It was not Hawkins who made Boise State what is is today it was Dirk Koetter.
Actually, it was Chris Peterson (73-6) who made Boise State what it is today. Hawkins (53-11) and Koetter (26-10) simply laid the foundation.

Yeah, thanks Tit-le-ist. An extra S sneaked in there somehow. Of course I meant CU. Watched quite a bit of Buffs football because one of my colleagues is a grad. Had to be some of the most painful football I have ever seen. Either he forgot what he knew or quit trying. Either way, I am no fan.MrTitleist said:Grisly Fan said:Yeah and he really showed his genius at CSU too. But then again why should that count for anything? Its only his latest gig. Shouldn't mean anything at all.WaGriz4life said:You guys are unbelievably stupid If you think Dan Hawkins would be a bad hire for an FCS program like Montana. The guy that turned Boise State into what it is today, yeah we really don't want that guy
Speaking of genius... Hawkins didn't coach at CSU. :twocents:

Not sure how good a coach Dave D would make but you are spot on with the credibility and fan apprehension part...

Too bad Glenn and Hauck are both at other jobs now.
Anyone for Tim Hauck?
Who on the current staff is the most qualified, or best fit?
Whoever it is, it needs to be someone that knows the offense we have been putting in.

As a resident of Phoenix (while he was head coach at ASU), and a graduate of the U of I (while he was the head coach) that is the ONE and ONLY hire that would make me pack up my significant compliment of Griz gear and burn it in effigy. :? :? :? :?

starting to think that a "nice guy" is NOT what we need! I am thinking that a Mike Ditka type could do well.....RABIDAWG said:snap said:Tommy Lee still in town?
Nope - helping out in Hawaii. Besides, he's too nice a guy to come into this mess.

I bet Joe Glenn would love his old job back -- Urban Meyer called him the best coach in the MWC
DD -- even though he makes $230K (according to another poster here) Canada's tax rate is 45% -- so salary would be about the same?
But with a premier FCS program, even with what is going on, emphasis should be placed on identifying and following the right selection process, and having the right selection committee. UM would be foolish to select a new HC on short order -- it won't do any good to try to have someone in place before spring ball is done.
Rob Ash was not on anyone's radar when we started the selection process -- and many of us (me included) wanted someone else on the short list (Lennon). But the selection committee had it right. Take your time, pick the right guy.
AZGrizFan said:Engstrom has already stated it would be an "interim" coach. So, I doubt he's ready to do a full-on coaching search at this point.
