just to let you guys know, the big parking lot that is designated for parking pass holders, I just asked if I could park in there and they said as long as I parked in half farther away from the arena. They were lettng a bunch of people do this. Just ask next time!!
The west 1/2 of lot P (across from adams Center) is open parking - has been this way as long as I can remember. The east 1/2 is reserved. The sign even says parking on the right is reserved as you go in.
Saturday they had someone new working there, who either got wrong instructions or didn't understand what he was told. Either way, he wouldn't let anyone in without a pass. I got there @ 6:50 and the west 1/2 was empty. Despite everybody who had ever been to a game telling the pinhead the west 1/2 was open, he insisted it wasn't. Created huge traffic back-ups, and limited parking.
I dropped of the wife and kids, parked the car, then went back to AC and talked to one of the ticket takers, who at that point had heard this about 1000 times (along with people pissed off about how long it takes to purchase tickets).
He went out with me and told the parking attendant that the west 1/2 is open, let people park there. When I moved my car into the lot (which by this time was about 1/3rd full and 15 minutes before game time) there was a cop there with the parking attendant and he was letting people park on the left with no problem.
The sad thing is that if you were a casual fan and this was the first game you went to, traffic and parking was such as hassel due to this one guy, you probably won't have any desire to go to another. Combine this with the glacial pace at the ticket window, and $8 (for everybody, kids included) to sit anywhere but GA, adn it is a miracle they draw as many as they do.
But still, I'll be there this week for Jackson St.
