Ash on Cat-Griz

snap said:
I see DM hanging close to 80 yards on the Griz passing and Kirk running for upwards of 30 yards rushing. In a close, down to the wire 4th quarter, Ash holds his full compliment of timeouts and takes a knee at the Griz 2 yard line to preserve a 28 point loss.

As if revenge was all a team needed to rise up and win its first game in a month after getting smoked by two teams and nearly upset by bottom feeders Northern Colorado and Weber State. You guys watch too many Harrison Ford movies.
MSU IS SCREWED. They went from preseason number 2 to not making the playoffs. After the game Ash told the press the last two games pretty much ended all realistic playoff discussions for the Cats. McGhee's grand senior year just ended in a smoldering heap.
When the Cats left the field tonight there were real tears.
revenge isn't going to fix anything any more than swagger or fire in the belly or anything else fans believe in. there's no magic emotion that fixes shit when you can't do your job and you just lost everything.

You may be right and they may be screwed, but it is The Brawl. There is not a kid on either team that wants to lose that game and I expect to see the best game Bozo has played all year. Griz need to perform. Now -as I have said many times before (because I am a f'ing genius- just ask me) States program is in trouble with Ash at the helm. Can't realistically get rid of him for atleast another year. They have a predicament on their hands.

With Kirk and Johnson both injured, the Cats have no running game. They're finished. If we can't beat them, we don't deserve a seed.

7 starters, not just kirk and johnson.

MSU has packed it in. UM wins by 30, however, MSU will win the canned food drive....suck it.

Strong work there after a heart breaker, wbtfg! :thumb:

If the Griz can get up by 14 at the half, the Cats will start planning their locker clean out and uniform check in during half time.

Does anybody still have the picture?

Rob Ash is an asshole. He basically pinned the loss to SUU on McGhee in the daily comical. At the end of the story he says his preference was to go down swinging throwing the ball to Bleskin on consecutive tries.
Way to hang the blame around the neck of the young man who resurrected your program and most likely your job.
If I was the parent of a recruit and read that, I'd be looking elsewhere.

McGhee is gone next year and Ash is trying to stick around thus he throws DM under the bus. DM deserves better since he is a good part responsible for the success RAsh has had.

That's always a good snapshot. I was thinking the photo of the sign telling the kittie players when and where to turn in their gear.

Any expectation that the cats won't be focused and ready for the Griz is a false hope. They'll dust themselves off. They're shell shocked right now but in a few days I expect they'll be angry and ready to go.
For some strange reason, MSU didn't start playing their game until late 3d & all 4th qtrs. Once McGhee got turned loose, the offense opened up and scored 14 points in 4th qtr. In a short time.

Maybe sticking with injured starters in 1st half explains it. Once the 2d & 3d stringers got in during 4th qtr., the Cats were, well, the Cats. McGhee had a healthy offense. That's how it seems to me.

If the Cats play the Griz like they played SUU in the 4th qtr., we will, indeed, have a game on our hands. The Griz were lucky to win the CalPoly game; it could have turned out like the Cats' SUU game. It's going to be an even match & a good game. Go Griz!! You'll need it.

Griz lost last year at home and I don't think that will sit well with these seniors. Here is to going out with a win!

Agree -- they're going to be out for revenge. . . and, after this loss, it's do or die for them next week. Psychologically, it might have been better for us if they'd rolled SUU today. Gonna be a tough game. If we don't bring our best game, we come home without the trophy next week.

The reason the Cats always win the canned food drive is that Spam is the basic food staple in Bozeman. It is easier to chew without a full compliment of your teeth.

The birds sacked McGee 3 out of his first 6 pass plays sending 4 and 5 defenders in to the back field. They kept up pressure plays the whole 1st half. The kittens were in shell shock with a whoopin' 16 yards of total offense at half time. After the Tbirds went up 15 zip at mid 3rd quarter, they changed over to a prevent defense and never sent over 3 rushers towards McGee for the rest of the game and won anyway.

I hate watching prevent-a-score Defense

I agree w/ that, BA. The TBirds went to prevent much too early; that's what made it a nail biter at the end of the 4th. CalPoly did the same & lost vs. the Griz. Coaches forget that time is really on the loser's side; the more time the loser has, the better. No one can rule out a guaranteed win early in the 2d half. There's too much time.

Maybe the SUU coach thought he had the game won when he put in the prevent, but FCS coaches are not infallible. And, why make the loser look good by letting him gain yardage & scoring? MD & Co. better get that score as high as possible all thru the 4th. The UM/CalPoly & MSU/SUU games should make them aware of that.

Of course, a big If, if UM finds itself leading substantially mid-4th. Otherwise, the prevent is out of the question.
