Some were saying the same thing about Adrian Peterson when he ruptured his ACL last year. Doctor's were saying it was the worst injury they had ever seen.

NOTE: I am NOT saying Ari Morales IS Adrian Peterson. I'm saying knee injuries can be overcome with lots of work and dedication and I think this kid has it. Plus he has motivation to come back.

Truth is, without a knee injury, this kid may be going to a fbs school. It is a gamble by the griz, if it pays off he could be a game changer. If not, then he goes on his way and we use his scholarship for someone else down the road. For someone who was so highly regarded prior to the injury, it is worth the gamble in my opinion.

I'm excited about his enthusiasm for this team. As with any football player, the way they'll really be defined is determined between the lines.
 
Im just worried he will get injured again and bareky even play. So I dont want to get excited yet.

We could say that about every player. Never know when a career ending injury may happen.
 
It is "almost" impossible to damage a knee as badly as Adrian Peterson did. It appears that Ari's work ethic is very very strong and if he has rehabilitated that knee, taking full advantage of the advances in surgical reconstruction and PT that are now available, he could be a very productive player.

Football is a brutal game and certainly there is opportunity for injury and/or re-injury. But if the will and desire are there a person can overcome just about anything. Look no further than the aforementioned Mr. Peterson and Peyton Manning.

I think Mr. Morales will be just fine.

As of now, Ari is walking on in the fall.

Sounds like he should have chosen EWU than. Most recruits were 5 or 6 years old the last time UM won a championship. :(

So the Griz offered him, he accepted verbally, and then the scholarship was pulled? Was it because of his injury?

Could be. I always thought he was only offered a walk-on, but I could be wrong. I remember him in his interviews only mentioning a walk-on.

He was offered a preferred walk on spot late last fall, after his injury. The Griz were well aware of him, unfortunately he was injured in July just before the season was going to start.
 
Yet, another typical redshirt candidate from a championship high school program with national notoriety ... weight room, summer practices, fall practices, spring practices ... I hope he's patient; then by 2014, he'll be a redshirt freshman ready to compete in the Big Sky. Better yet, hopefully, he'll earn an athletic scholarship for his patience and fortitude.

I think we'll be pleasantly surprised by Ari.
 
This is why it is always a good idea in recruiting to keep in touch with great players...

All that has been said above is true.
1- Without the injury HE WOULD NOT BE A GRIZ
2- From all that I have seen or read, He is a great Kid.
3- He is working very hard and re-cooperating very well
4- He has a chip on his shoulder (the good kind) and is out to prove all the PAC-12 teams wrong..

This is exactly the kind of player the Griz are looking for. A kid with Pac-12 talent out for revenge on teams that passed on him.

P.S. He was given a prefered walk-on with the expectation that that would become a scolarship very quickly.

It turns out Montana was watching as well and figuring out a way to get Morales to Missoula to play for them next season. And he came to terms with the Grizzlies this week and announced his intentions to play for them next year.

How did this all happen considering he was out all year?

“Well I have been in communication with U of Montana for while. And they have really been with me through this whole process. They were limited with scholarships because of some things that happened. But my recruiting Coach emailed me a couple of days ago. And we just talked about what my role would or could be there,” said Ari.

What position did the Grizzlies see him fitting into?

“They want me for running back Coach said they would use me how Oregon uses De’Anthony Thomas. He told me that they really love me as a player and he wants me in his back field.”

Without a scholarship to give Ari had to think about the offer at hand. To be a preferred walk on.

“So I am going to Montana as a preferred walk on. But he told me not to worry about it because they would likely give me a scholarship within my first month I am there. He also told me I could get a lot of playing time,” added Morales.

Ari had a great Junior year for the Wolverines and he had a host of schools after him during the Spring. Most of them Big Sky Schools. After the injury just Montana remained.

“Every school that passed me up will see what happens. Because nobody will work as hard as me. Montana believed in me through this whole thing. And I feel like this is redemption to make up for missing my Senior year. God has truly blessed me and I am thankful for the coaching staff at Montana.”

Overall he loves this fit and is thankful to be able to join a program like Montana.

“It felt like I lost my opportunity to play at the next level but now that I have that opportunity to play I’m all smiles,” he concluded. ”Go Griz.”

There is little doubt that a kid like Ari will make it. It is just a matter of how soon really. We wish him the very best and know that like a lot of kids still looking that all he needed and wanted was a chance. The Grizzlies gave that to him and are picking up a special kid.
