Why would they be "shaking in their boots?" First and foremost, they don't wear boots since they aren't soccer players. But more importantly the game is in their house. The first game in our house was extremely close and won by the Griz on the second to last play of the game. Concerned perhaps -- as much as they would be concerned about playing any good team. Shaking? Naw.

Figure of speech. It is a way of saying Bison are concerned. They realize the game is not a slam dunk.

Don't really need anyone to interpret idioms for me. English is my first (though not only) language. Shaking in their boots indicates fear (feel free to Google it). NDSU has no fear of the Griz.
 
I'm in Fargo and I. An answer that difinatively. There are not quacking in their boots. They are going to CRUSH is. For lots of reasons my thumbs don't care to type.
 
Truly don't think the Bison are shaking in their boots...but there has been a seed of doubt planted in their once over-the-top confidence. They know they can be beat and the team that the Bison face tomorrow is one of the teams that rose to the occasion once already.

The Griz have not been over-confident since the week the disappointment of the Cal-Poly game. Since then its been a struggle for survival and with the return of Brady at QB the "I think I can" attitude has come alive. The seeds of hope have been planted.

We CAN win this thing! GO GRIZ!
 
Single biggest factor we have going into this game that I think is beneficial to us is....we've literally been in win or your done mode since 5 weeks ago...this is the Beezons first week of that scenario. Took us a botched snap to squeek by our first week of that scenario. I like our odds.

Layoffs seem to benefit some teams and others not-so-much. Historically the Griz haven't been great after a bye week. This year we are 50/50. Last loss to the Cats was after a bye week. The loss to CC was after a bye week. Having time for injuries to heal notwithstanding, I am just as happy to carry the momentum straight to NDSU.
 
I'm just gonna go ahead and say it. runtheoption is by far the funniest UNDSU T-Buff to visit our little website. Just like here, some of those fans take themselves and their team way too seriously. runtheoption is an exception, and is therefore exceptional.

I agree. The Griz have always had a tough time defending a QB with options who can tuck it and runs for 3-4 yards every play.

I also agree with the OP that this thing will largely be settled by the efficacy of the UM Defense. Sure if our O sucks and our D is on the field for 40mins, we're screwed. But our D needs to play lights out.

I agree, even though he said "MsMaroon, we should talk" and then he didn't talk . . . :cry:

My thoughts on this game FWIW: Unlike the Griz, the Bison are in "have to, should, expected to, all signs point to, all things favor . . . win(ning)" mode. They are the defending National Champions, the game is in their dome, they've had a week's rest, they will destroy us with their run game, the Fargo Dome is the loudest environment known to man, they don't lose in their house, they are "balanced", they are prepared for us now that they have all this film, they have the finest secondary ever now that their ace is back, it's really hard to beat a team twice in the same season . . . etc. etc. etc.

In my mind, all of those expectations can translate to players under pressure = players playing tight. The Bison are a great team. I know they've been there before. But so have we, and in the past . . . some of those assumptions did get to Griz teams expected to win: Wofford, UMass and Coastal Carolina come to mind, losses especially shocking since they happened to be in our own (LOUD and COLD) house . . . :shock:

It happens.

The Griz don't HAVE to win. We will love it if they do, but I think most of Griz Nation will be pretty happy with this year even if it ends tomorrow. The season was thrilling, we beat EWU and the Cats, the team just got better and better and the future looks bright. The guys can play loose, have fun and leave it all on the field. Not so for NDSU. A loss tomorrow would forever cement 2015 as a disappointing season, falling short of all expectations.

I think it happens tomorrow.

GO. GRIZ.

One more heartwarming thought: No matter what, no one can ever take away, deny, erase or forget that SPECTACULAR football game played on national TV on August 29, 2015. Not no one, not no way, not no how. :D
