App State... An Early look.

Well so much for a classy conversation...

"God's Country" is a common moniker for the area. It only refers to the Boone area, not the entirety of NC. I'll post scenic pics next week when I get back to my work computer if you'd like. If you think Montana is the only place with pretty mountains, you're delusional.

Since you all were so nice to me right out of the gate, I'll share with you how games at The Rock go: You come, you lose, you go home.

I hope some of you can make the trip.

Oh, don't get your panties in a bunch, no insult intended.

Likewise, Montana is also known as "the last best place" and the place where "God lost his tennis shoes".

The pics are just some of the area around Missoula .... western Montana.

Please do! I've been to NC, very pretty area.

I've lived throughout the Rockies, I know there are other "pretty mountains" (in fact, I think all mountains are pretty)

This remains to be seen. But we do have evidence how games at WaGriz go: You come, you lose, you go home.

Me too.

We have a group of five making the trip, spending Friday and Saturday in Boone. Staying at Country Inn, are there goods bars within walking of that hotel? Any must see suggestions? Thanks!

Great repartee but I've spent time there and the "rolling hills" of the east are just that.......hills. Boone is nice in comparison with the topography on that side of the continent but shrinks to insignificance when you get to "real mountain" country.

How old is your group?

I didn't realize that "bigger is better" applies to mountains. And I think it's pretty common knowledge that the Rockies are bigger than the Appalachians. Both beautiful in their own right.

Dr Gonzo, if I make the trip, can we bust into your adrenochrome stash? Just don't give me too much..

There were times last year that were amazingly frustrating. How do you give up 42 to Citadel one week and hold GSU to 17 a couple of weeks later?

The 42 to Citadel was an anomaly. They scored four touchdowns in short order and three of them were due to special teams. We were up 49-14 and then all off a sudden it was 49-42.

They lost to McNeese at home a few years ago, too.

Only one of two regular season home losses in 10 years (GSU in 2007 the other). We've lost three times in the last four playoffs at home (Richmond, Villanova and Maine). That McNeese one really hurt because if we win that game, we're at home for the semifinals instead of in Missoula.

The Maine loss was a final straw. The staff, especially on offense, needed an overhaul badly as so much talent was being wasted. Moore got an ultimatum and changes were made. With Satterfield he gives us a chance to win every game. We won three titles with him calling plays and haven't won any since he left. It's a shame too since our defense has improved since he left. No one on the staff had the balls to run any non-regular plays the last two years. They would practice different gadgets and looks but never implemented them in games. It was basically running the I-Formation out the Spread and we didn't have the size up front to do it.

The key this year will be the O-Line. I knew last year was bad when I heard in early November that McClain was gone after the season (and he was). Now we have Dwayne Ledford, formerly of Gardner-Webb. He played O-Line in the NFL and has a solid rep as a coach. If he can fix the issues, then we will contend for a National Championship.
