I would have "adjusted" our second-half turnovers.![]()
I would have tried to score more points.

Being able to make adjustments on both sides of the ball is the key thing I'm looking for in our coaches this year. It was practically nonexistent all of last year.
What adjustments would you have made in the App St game last year?
I disagree. A simple adjustment, like double teaming Sidbury or using a chip block, would have made a differnce. There were two plays in that game that blew it open (pass to the qb and when we f'd up in the red zone). I think Richmond squeaked by UNI the prior week. They caught fire at the right time but they were not world beaters. In fact they needed a ton of luck.AZGrizFan said:Griz2k said:AZGrizFan said:AllWeatherFan said:I wasn't exactly thrilled with Hauck's halftime "adjustments" against James Madison in the chipper.
Or against Villanover in '09.![]()

Or Richmond.
Meh. I think we just weren't as good of a team as Richmond. That game really was never in doubt.

Nope, that's not what I said at all. I meant exactly what I said. Let me know if you'd like me to explain it to you in more detail.
How many fans do you think really understand if the team was outcoached or not, or whether other adjustments should have been made?

Well you didn't really "say" anything which is why I was asking.

What adjustments would you have made in the App St game last year?
Offensively I would have tried any other quarterback in the passing game and pulled T-mac because of the ints but would have kept Moore pounding them the whole second half.
Defensively I would have quit playing zone and used some press coverage to knock the WR's timing off. Dennard is strong enough to get up and hit somebody on the line to alter the receivers route. Rotate in different safety's if Hermy was really hurt like everyone says he was last year. The sit back and wait for them to make a mistake defense Ty was calling was crazy.
How about you, what changes would you have made?

The Griz were on the road down by 8 with a chance to tie with a TD and a two point conversion at the end if the game. That game was about Griz mistakes more than a lack of adjustments IMO.The fumbled kick off, missed extra point etc. Hermanson did not play well for sure but who should Coach Ty have gone to instead? The 5'9" Romminger, against those tall receivers? Remember, we were already down two back up safeties by that game. At QB, would SSH have been an upgrade over TM? I don't see it. The safeties did get beat "over the top" again on that skinny post. Just like they did in the South Dakota game. Maybe Coach Ty should have been ready for that play. That can be argued. Anyway, the Griz had their chances to get the victory on the road. They just couldn't get it done.

I agree with your analysis of the game, except I don't know what your comment regarding Gregorak is about and don't think I agree on Hermanson, or on the safeties getting beat over the top (but I don't recall specifically on the pass plays). Hermanson was our leading tackler with 12 tackles. From looking at the invididual stats, ASU's main receivers had long receptions of 32, 25 and 17. There doesn't seem to be alot of getting beat over the top in there, altho the 2 longer ones were TD's.

PR:
I believe it was the 2nd or 3rd ASU TD. Probably about 30 yards out. From what I remember there was no safety in the deep middle. Tully came over late but the ASU receiver was already by him for the TD. A very similar play occurred in the South Dakota game so I don't know if ASU saw something on the game film. As far as Hermanson, the previous poster had suggested that Ty should have pulled him if he was hurt. I was questioning the rationale of that move since the Griz were already short on safeties because of injuries. I didn't feel that Romminger was necessarily a good "match up" against those tall WR's and he really was the only safety available.

Perhaps our friends from Boone are making the mistake of attacking a community of 23,000 with just a few soldiers. Time will tell.
