App must avoid duplicating Custar's Last Stand

I honestly think Big G is just shooting low so that if he's right he can say, "I told you so," and if he's wrong the Griz win. Win-win situation, but he definitely doesn't back up his statements.

All he's doing is making blanket statements. The Griz lost to App State last year because of plays on the field. McKinney's interceptions, the pass D, Lider's missed PAT...
I don't agree with much he said other than the fact that App st controlled the game. We only had the lead once in the first few minutes. Even if Glider makes that XP App st still wins they were better than us.

Last year.......

That's the other "key" to this game, kicking and special teams. I would hate to see a missed FG cost the Griz a win. On another note, how good is this WR Sean Price? He got a lot pub as a Frosh.
He's being hailed as the best WR in FCS by some. This will easily be the best WR corps we see all year.

Should be an epic task for our secondary. I still have nightmares about them going up and ripping the passes out of the air away from our guys last year.

Boring as it is to say it, it all comes down to line play. If we give App State's quarterback all day in the pocket, he'll burn us. If he's scrambling for his life, it'll be a long day for him.

On the other side of the ball, we have a veteran offensive line, some pretty good running backs, an offense that App State has never seen, a lot more speed at receiver, and...we have JJ.

I like our odds.

:agree: Our lines need to dictate the game.

This will be a great game by two great programs. It will be the premier game in the state as little brother plays they're final scrimmage under the lights on Thursday. We need this game to see where we're at. I like the challenge and I'm sure the team and coaches are up to it. I will miss not playing them in the future.

Glider  That there is funny

Custer kicked the crap out of Johhny Reb before he came to Montana and was massacred. Probably not a good omen for boys from North Carolina.

In last year's game, the scored was tied at halftime, tied for about 17 minutes the second half, and UM was down 1 (after missing the extra point) for almost 4 minutes. This was another game in which UM had next to no offense in the second half.

^^^^ What those two said.

Being able to make adjustments on both sides of the ball is the key thing I'm looking for in our coaches this year. It was practically nonexistent all of last year.

Yep, and say what you want about Hauck, but he usually did an excellent job of adjusting at the half. The SDSU game was pretty much proof-positive of that.

What adjustments would you have made in the App St game last year?

I wasn't exactly thrilled with Hauck's halftime "adjustments" against James Madison in the chipper.

Or against Villanover in '09. :( :(

Or Richmond.

Meh. I think we just weren't as good of a team as Richmond. That game really was never in doubt.

Ya I know, I thought we were all just gonna throw out names of teams we lost to.
