Any word on rookie camp performances?

I believe JR got signed on as an UDFA.

Right, didn't he and kidder both sign priority UDFA contracts prior to camp? From my understanding, that just locks them up to that team. But they still have to prove their worth in these camps correct to move closer to the initial 90 man roster? So I guess I was wondering if they've done well enough in these initial camps to get to the next camp? Maybe I'm confused on the process.

If you sign a priority UDFA contract post draft, you basically are locked into a training camp spot unless you completely bomb at the rookie minicamp. Now if you get a rookie minicamp invite as a tryout player, you are basically trying to earn a UDFA contract from that minicamp tryout. That is why Nelson and Kidder's cases are different than say Brady Gustafson, who got a rookie minicamp tryout. All the rookies and some 2nd and 3rd year fringe roster players take part in the rookie minicamps for each NFL team.

Perfect thx for the clarification. Any word on how Newell did? Heard Walker impressed.

Word on Bucs website today is Newell is too slow-one step behind other backs and is not doing well catching the ball out of backfield. I don't see him moving on

If he doesn't catch-on with the Bucs, its off to Seattle's rookie mini-camp which will be later this week.

Unfortunately that does not surprise me at all. Speed is the one thing he did not have.

FTG board aside, I was definitely rooting for him

Yeah the only way he catches on is at FB and he would have to get bigger for that role. The biggest role he could provide a team is on special teams but if he can't be versatile enough to be a reliable ball-carrier, NFL teams will move on. The primary reason why Chase Reynolds has stuck on the Rams this long is because he has shown every season that he can still be a good enough running back if they need him in a pinch. Plus, Chase is just a better athlete than Chad, plain and simple. Not like Chad won't do well in life with his engineering degree. It would be icing on the cake if he made an NFL roster somehow.

Same. Hard not to pull for a guy like him.

But is he really Little Sullivan Award qualified as best male amateur athlete in the State of Montana this year? I respect him too but not sure if he earned that award.

"Nominating criteria for the Little Sullivan award includes being an outstanding athlete, academics and community service..."

Chad was the front-runner and checks all three of those boxes without a doubt.

A step faster and he would have been something. He was not even fast for HS back at Senior. Of course, he got compared to Saracini all the time. He was a warrior, took a lot of licks and kept coming back for more. Not an ounce of quit in the guy. Deserves the respect he gets.

JR said he had a very very good mini camp in both ST and defense. Here is what the official Chiefs website posted:

“Good height and extraordinary arm length. Arms measure in at over 34.5 inches which are incredibly rare at the position. Showed off solid agility drill numbers at his pro day. Possesses quality footwork and some short-area quickness to bird-dog receivers in their routes. Will make a high percentage of plays on the ball when he's able to crowd the route. Plays with adequate change of direction to mirror in-breaking routes. Good ball-tracker when forced to into a vertical chase. Plays with hustle. Willing to attack run support responsibility with some aggressiveness.”
