Can Someone explain a High Ankle Sprain. I believe it involves Ligaments????Maybe Cartilage, but doubt it.. There is a Ligament that originate on the tibia, and inserts on the fibula, and keeps that joint tight with the calcaneous. Been a long time, but i am sure you younger minds can explain a little better.. Go Tough Griz. Hell spit and dirt fixes everything.......

A high ankle sprain involves stretching (grade 1), partially tearing (grade 2), or completely rupturing (grade 3) the ligaments that connect the tibia and fibula in the lower leg. The new tightrope surgery anchors the ends of the tibia and fibula together to restore the original position of the bones which supports them and allows for proper healing of the ligaments. Bad high ankle sprains which previously nagged players for months can be fixed with this surgery to return the athlete back to action in just a few weeks.

This is the surgery Tua Tagovailoa, the QB for Alabama has had.

Here is the recovery time:

"Waldrop said the medical staff will try control swelling for the first four days after surgery.

After that, he says they will work with athletes to start walking on the fourth and fifth day, before attempting running by the eight and ninth day. He then will work with athletes on cutting shortly after.

Overall, he normally tells patients "it will take them three or four weeks to return."

Sneed should be back for Weber.

Sneed could run and cut last week. He did it in warmups and could have played if needed. If Weber was this week, he would play. He still might play...but I doubt it

He had surgery the week following his high ankle sprain. This new type of tightrope surgery provides a quick return to the field while stabilizing his injury and allowing the ligaments to heal. He could play this weekend or next. He wanted to play last weekend. He was supposed to practice again yesterday.

I heard it was tightrope surgery 2.0 and he was game ready 3 hours after the procedure.

OFFS. Now the NCAA is going to be crawling all over us like the lice on goldeneagle's hair. Jesus, if they gave us two years for a coupla hotdogs I shudder to think what kind of punishment they'll levy for a $6,000,000 surgery.

Thanks a ton, Ursa.

My inside source said he’s expected to practice and will be evaluated later in the week to see if he can play. Keep that on the DL though so Idaho don’t find out.

It's Friday. How much later in the week are we talking?

:D Well, there's still Saturday morning...

6,000,000?

Oh hell fella, Coach Joe Deluca performed the surgery at twilight at the Clover Bowl with a Buck model 110 folding knife, two yards of used 8 lbs. test fishing line and $1.00 worth of sterile gauze. Grand total of the surgery was less than a hotdog at Costco, always Costco.

And you call yourself an economist?

Thanks for weighing in everyone. What I am hearing is Sneed needs more time. If we see him tomorrow that's great...but if not...well hopefully we will see him before this season is done.

When the Griz won it all back in 1995...I was a senior. I'd see Scott Gregg or Super Dave walking around the campus and I knew whether those guys were healthy or not. Now I am an old guy with kids living way too far away from Missoula and I have to rely on egriz insiders to tell me if Sneed is walking around campus or in a wheel chair. I appreciate the insights. Ultimately Hauck is still Hauck and he will never show his hand. Either way...lets kick the Vandals ass tomorrow!
