Obviously we were "out-recruited" at the QB position in those days, comparing who we signed at that position to those signed by EWU. There was even another QB that EWU signed from a small Oregon high school that was a 2-3 year starter there, and who was first-team All-Conference. I can't remember his name off-hand.
UPDATE: I did some research, and his name was Gage Gubrud. He was a 2016 All-American.

He also had ZERO D-1 offers and walked on at EWU. Besides. Anyone who had Cooper Kupp to throw to is automatically disqualified. Try again.
And your point is??? I thought our coaches were paid to evaluate recruits? We signed Berquist when he had zero other offers. Gubrud is from McMinnville, OR, in the heart of our recruiting area, yet we were not able to properly evaluate him??? Did our coaching staff even know of him? Did they offer him a preferred walk-on opportunity like EWU did?
Oh, we flamed on Cooper Kupp also, who wanted to come here. Not much argument supporting our recruiting efforts, huh?
