Another QB we didn't recruit

Duggan was our kind of guy. From podunk Iowa, Council Bluffs.

From Wiki...

"Council Bluffs' population was 62,799 at the time of the 2020 census, making it the state's tenth largest city.[6] The Omaha metropolitan region of which Council Bluffs is a part, is the 58th largest in the United States, with an estimated population of 967,604 (2020)."

The president of DA Davidson is from Council Bluffs. I've been there several times.

Yes, we did. And I’m pissed as hell at Bobby and his band of merry men for not offering those three.

If they didn't come to Griz Summer Camp, how could the staff ever know if they were any good? No way to evaluate.

Yes. It’s quite the conundrum.

Lived in Millard for three years and worked in Council Bluffs.

It appeared that the recruiting this year was primarily Montana kids. The good news is they probably aren’t portal candidates.

Wasn't it the Montana kids who hit the portal in 2022 with Sulser and Buschini?

This doom scroll thread is asinine. You could cherry pick QBs for another 20 pages. Let's hope it doesn't get to that.

You guys making fun of this thread are totally missing the point. I didn't list a bunch of QBs from all over the country that we didn't offer. I listed THREE QBs from the very three states which we recruit heavily. Furthermore, all three of these QBs ended up being All-Conference, and Adams and Barierre were All American. And the Idaho QB was voted freshman FCS player-of-the-year! Hell, he too might be All-American before he graduates! These three were recruited heavily by several Big Sky teams........ but were never offered by Hauck? It's not like FCS caliber QBs grow on trees in CA, OR, & WA. How many can there be, for Christ's sake? And you don't think it is a problem when we didn't offer any of the three, when we all know that recruiting a good QB has been a huge problem for this staff? Why can't you and others admit that our staff stepped on their hooter with these players? More troubling, is that we have no way of knowing that our staff even knew about these QBs in high school.

I'm done with this topic. Hard for some of you to admit that our coaches screwed the hooch in not offering any of these three. And save the(poor grades) excuse, cause I ain't buying that one with Hauck as our coach. I guess some of you have forgotten the drop-down thugs he recruited who pistol-whipped the drug dealer on 6th street. I'm quite sure none of them were Mensa candidates

Adams was Prop48, which is why he ended up at EWU. Hauck wasn't the coach when EB was being recruited, it was Stitt, and he only had eyes for Gresch Jensen.

You're right about Adams. I forgot that it was Stitt then. But, Hauck would never pass on a kid with Adam's talent just because he was Prop48. Hell, he even let Jimmy Wilson come back after his murder acquital

Montana didn't admit Prop48 kids. Many schools didn't, hence why he ended up at EWU.

Was Wilson a non-qualifier?

What about Barriere and McCoy?

I thought he was. Am I wrong?

Hauck wasn't the coach when EB ended up at EWU. As for McCoy, I don't believe he was heavily recruited and am not sure he had many offers outside of Idaho.

Who was the coach when EB was at EWU, Delaney? McCoy only had a couple of FCS offers. But EB had several. Who was the recruiting coordinator under Stitt and Delaney?

Cole Berquist had no other offers except Montana. We somehow found him, but not McCoy obviously.

Stitt, he offered Jensen

Maybe we could have some fan put a bug in McCoy's ear to enter the portal, and we could come up with some NIL bucks to get him to transfer here. I can dream, can't I?

This is the 6th time he's been told this. Stitt never wanted EB or anyone else over Jensen.

There are lots of guys who get offered by other BSC schools that we don’t offer, and vice versa. There was a time where we USED to say if we’re fighting other BSC schools for recruits we’re in a world of hurt because our recruiting needs/wants/preferences were at a significantly higher skill level than what any other BSC team was putting on the field.

Obviously that has changed (at least the results, not necessarily the recruiting approach). As it now stands there are a number of players on a number of BSC teams that I wish we’d recruited.

I agree, but still one has to question our coaching staff's ability to evaluate high school QB talent, compared to other Big Sky staffs. Obviously we were "out-recruited" at the QB position in those days, comparing who we signed at that position to those signed by EWU. There was even another QB that EWU signed from a small Oregon high school that was a 2-3 year starter there, and who was first-team All-Conference. I can't remember his name off-hand.

UPDATE: I did some research, and his name was Gage Gubrud. He was a 2016 All-American.

He also had ZERO D-1 offers and walked on at EWU. Besides. Anyone who had Cooper Kupp to throw to is automatically disqualified. Try again.
