Well for one thing it increases camp attendance by all those that want to play here they feel they must come since it is is method (regardless if he actually thinks they will ever be offered).....thus more money for coaches

A lot of kids want to be griz. Just go check any friz coaches Twitter account and you'll see plenty putting their hudle highlights out there and many kids saying they want to be part of the program.

Ummm...those same kids are following dozens and dozens of coaches from other programs as well. Kids cast a wide net to get noticed.

As long as the most important critera for being offered by the coach is attendance at one of the camps, you're going to miss on a few kids. His team, his rules. And stop with the bozeman analogy. They'll offer anyone who can play.

I've never understood this.

I’ll take “Why are there more than fifty kids on the roster from Montana” for a thousand Alex. But that’s another stated goal of the program, so it must be working to perfection. Hauck didn’t invent the practice, but perhaps extreme adherence is something he can hang his hat on?

Too bad for the worthy kids who can’t afford the fare. Seems like a lose/lose, but what would I know.

You do realize we signed Kealii Ah Yat, right? HS QB, son of a legend. Your schtick is getting extremely old Rosey...er...uptop...er...sincity...er...growler....whoever the f**k you're calling yourself these days. Give it a effen rest already.

That’s not what it is at all lol. That money is minuscule. Hauck is old school and wants to see physically the vast majority of his recruits in competition. This is what big time coaches like Saban and Urban do too. I don’t agree with this approach at FCS but also understand Hauck has absolutely offered kids who he doesn’t see at camps. Not cut and dry even if he says it is in a microphone.

Should we start a thread on all the qb's UM didn't recruit? It might be long.

Should we start a thread on all of the qb's UM developed? It might be short.
Not as short as the list of coaching changes today.

Idaho is definitely back as a emerging power in the Big Sky. Their early signing class was 23 kids, with three 3-star kids, including a 3-star QB from Tulatin, OR named Jack Wagner. And they accomplished this with a second-year coach. Oregon is a state we recruit in. Did we even know about this kid???

Wagner had Big Sky offers from Idaho, Montana State, and Portland State, but not from us. Instead, we sign an in-state kid who we will make a safety.

Just another example of Hauck's lack of ability to sign solid high school QBs.

You going to go down the list of FCS recruits and ask “why didn’t we get this guy?”, on every one?

Nope, just the highly-rated QBs from the states we recruit in, which our Big Sky brethren identify, give multiple offers to, and sign, and we probably don't even know about. Last I checked, recruiting a good high school QB was our biggest recruiting failure, right?

Come on, Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia et. al. recruit nationally, and don't rely at all on their camps.

What out-of-state QB has attended Hauck's camp since he has been back?

They have 20 times our recruiting budget.

Ah Yat had zero other FBS or FCS offers, according to the recruiting sites. He was a legacy kid that Hauck signed because of the great relationship and history of his dad. His completion percentage in high school was in the 50s.

You do realize the Griz have also signed three 3-star kids already as well? If that is your measurement of a kick ass recruiting class then you should be pretty happy, correct? Especially considering the Griz have 3/13 who are 3 star compared to 3/23 for Idaho? The Griz will also be adding probably an additional 6-7 players and Idaho probably finished correct? What if they land a couple more studs, do you change your mind?

Yes, I will give credit when it is due. The vast majority of good FCS level high school players have already signed. We'll sign some kids who leave other programs following spring. Hopefully, some will be signed from FBS programs. But if they are any good, they will probably chase the NIL money.

Oh, can you list the 3-star kids we signed already? I think we did sign one 3-star, but am not sure. I am not aware of them, but I'll be happy to post their recruiting offers and number of stars from the two top recruiting sites.

Ah yes, that old recruiting budget thingy again..... something I posted about our need to increase a few weeks ago. I wonder what the recruiting budget of other Big Sky teams are compared to ours?

Why would an FBS or an out of state qb come to the Griz given what Britt said why he was leaving? I'm not saying it's accurate, but his words are going to have some influence on a QB looking to come here.
