Another key cat injured

I know one thing. If I were a Griz recruiter visiting with a player that is considering both the U and MSU I would make sure to show him the follow and have a pen ready to sign him up:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwpQcRfv5UQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeEuORCr6rI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Griz take their football a lot more seriously than the cats.

Player Rep. I did play football. Anyway, you present some good points but I think your being overly optimistic. There is nothing wrong with that. I know I am overly optimistic too. It's a natural part of being a fan, Delaney is a nice guy and I am sure the kids like him. He is only on a two year contract though and he did already retire one time. Ash is also a very good recruiter and has had great results since being at MSU in that area. He and his wife like Bozeman and he will probably finish his career here. He has never been the type of coach to jump around. I do feel that recruits look for a head coach that is going to be there. The kids know that coach wanted them. You get a new coach and a lot of times they look for different things in player and you no longer fit. The kids do become more attached to their position coaches but when a new head coach comes in a lot of times they will bring in new assistants. So there is an impact. Yes there are many other reasons why recruits choose programs like the tradition,atmospere,success, facilities and sometimes it's the academic side. When MSU lost schollies it did hurt our depth and it took a while before Ash could build it up again. I would say it's just been the last couple of years where we have had adequate quality depth. You like to redshirt as many freshman as you can but he didn't have that luxury. Yes we survived but it has been a long road. Where it really hurts I think is having the partials avaialbe for the Montana kids.

Anyway, I am not saying you're wrong. Your points are well taken. Certainly having a good season will help!

With the Griz loss of scholarships, they should still get their top targets and players that grew up loving Griz football. Where it will come into play is getting those recruiting battles with other members of the Big Sky toward the end of the recruiting season and whoever can offer the most money wins.

We are doomed. The sky fell. Someone order more Lexapro stat. Recruits think all our current players are thugs and rapists. Our current coach wears depends and eats his snot. We have two offensive coordinators and they do not know who should call the plays. Our defense doesn't realize passing is part of the game of football now. Our cheerleaders wear granny panties. Monty is constipated. Sky divers have tried to kill themselves getting into Wa Griz. Boosters won't be able to talk to players now because they are worried about the NCAA. Our uniforms are boring. Our tunnel run video fails to inspire. Air quality is so bad in Missoula that players will contract Asthma and never be able to play again. Our drop down players are terrible. The PA system is too loud. Blah, blah, blah. Feel free to add to this folks. Afterall the world is ending and Griz fans should slice their wrists.

You guys are great at one thing on this board and that is trashing anyone that may point out a flaw in the Griz program. Your really in denial if you think losing four schollies will not hurt your depth.

Haven't answered my question. If we are averaging between 59 and 60 scholarships, how is losing something we don't use such a big deal??
are you just posting a hypothetical question or do you really think we only use 59-60?

Blah blah blah... You guys sound like these guys I was talking to in the bar last night, telling me how good the griz are gonna be. Would not shut up about how good JJ is, and how GOOD the drop downs are, and how tough the D is... Blah blah blah. I just said "ya, cool. I think we're gonna be pretty good too." And left it at that. You guys can talk all you want but we've been proving it on the field and as of right now... You have not. I think we're all ready to just get this thing started and shut one side up. :lol:

A good start would be your "shutting up" on egriz. It looks like you're fine talking big on an anonymous message board, but afraid to do so in a bar.
Pot, meet kettle. Kettle, meet pot.

You may want to talk to those in the cats athletic department administration about your theory on ash not wanting to leave. He has been doing plenty of looking the last two years and will leave for the right opportunity.

For a cat fan that is constantly on our board, you sure seemed to have missed an obvious thread with a link to an article quoting haslam saying we only use that many.

"As a point of reference, over the four academic years of 2008-2012, UM awarded an average of 61.89 football scholarships. Last year, we awarded a total of 59.27 football scholarships. The tentative scholarship count for the upcoming academic year is approximately 61."

you don't get 59-60 a year when the average is 61.89.

But last year we used 59. The point is, the loss of schollys isn't good, but it's far from a death penalty. Like Delaney said, it just makes you recruit smarter. I don't think it's that big of a deal. The Colt andersons and Marc Marianis are still out there just go find them!

Seriously... We went 5-6 on 59 scholarships and we where damn near close to going 9-2, but a team in turmoil and a coaching change was going to make it tough. Guarantee you that if We hadn't had a coaching change and the team wasn't going through the crap it did AND we only gave out 59 scholarships, we wouldn't have gone 5-6.
