Andrew Schimdt nails it. Maybe he should be the next head Griz coach.

I just did. Are we talking that Missoula does not have anything like that? Or is the pitt where they get their PED's? hahaha

No peds and not a knock on MSU’s program in any way. I don’t know Fletcher, but I have heard from Cat friends he does a phenomenal job and is committed to athletes strength and conditioning. Check the bio of the Cat strength and conditioning coach and there are ties to the Pitt. I don’t think anything nefarious. Just pointing out what they are doing correctly east of the divide. I actually take my hat off (my bald head) to them. Two staff members are Carroll College grads and doing fine work.

I am not a fan of Schmidt at all. I will say that when he played the FCS was so much stronger than it is now. There were 2 or 3 NDSUs back then and a legit 2nd tier that had a legit chance to knock on the door every year. Even being young if you do research and look back at the stats you can see this is an apples to oranges thing.

Apparently you haven’t been listening to anything Schmidt has been saying. Because he’s said it re-peaked-ly and LOUDLY.
He’s neither weak nor timid. He is, however, correct.
Won't know if he's correct or not until we're either knocked out of the playoffs or win the whole thing.

The biggest differences he points out are that the No. 1 goal of the program is to beat the Cats. Which has happened twice in the last nine years. No. 2 is to win the Big Sky. Which has happened once in 16 seasons. Third is to get a degree - which they are doing very well. And No. 4 is to win the natty. Which no Griz team in a quarter century, including Andrew's, have been able to accomplish.
The short comings are frustrating, certainly. However, that game was epic, and could've gone either way. But hes going around acting like the sky is falling, while we're ranked #3 and 11-1. If we were 11-1 but had beat the cats, would he say the same thing? Hes been negative all year about the o line, and other things. Had we lost one (say und or Sac on the road, or the e wash game) imagine how negative hed have been? Then imagine we beat the cats, sunshine and roses?

We're 11-1, lets get this thing rolling in the playoffs and see what happens. Weve got a shot, a little tougher than some since we're the 3rd seed, but lets fucking Rock n roll. Is my attitude, anyway.

I think lost in all the discussion of the success two years ago was the fact that Ronny Bradford was running the defense. Is it a coincidence that the defense hasn’t been the same since he departed? Honest question. I think he was a tremendous coach and it’s u fortunate we lost him to the NFL, but not surprising.
If the opportunity arises where he's available we absolutely need to get him back

Wrong. Of course.
Schmidt knows that I'd kick his ass if he called me out on air. As I have said before, my nephew and Schmidt were the starting running backs for the High-Flying Hawks and were classmates. Tanyon Bisseel who played at Boise State was in that backfield too, as the QB. My nephew was a starting corner for Dartmouth and is a hotshot orthopedic surgeon in Kirkland WA

During his time we went to 2 National Championships, and had 3 semi-final appearances. Those teams had a lot of success and the reason why he has high expectations. The Griz won 7 conference titles during Hauck's first era and have only produced 1 since coming back. I know the landscape has changed, but he had a different experience.
Maybe not this year, but in general, the Big Sky conference is stronger now than it was in the 2000s.

He did call you out on the pod. Better fight him

Why? I don't need to listen to others tell me stuff about things I know.

I know as much or more about just about anyone spewing Griz content.

As if today - Griz are, in fact, FCS championship caliber. Period. Anyone saying they are not ought to have their mouths forcefully taped or stapled shut.
Confidence is a good thing. Willful ignorance is something altogether different.

Left out, is that the Cats were pretty bad for years and then UM had Stitt. And the conference is stronger now than it was in the 2000's. It's much harder to beat the Cats now that they are good and on the same level of the Griz, and it's harder to win the conference when there are multiple good teams in most years. While EWU is now down, MSU, Davis, Idaho, NAU (in a few recent years), Weber in many years, Sac State in multiple recent years. Until this year, the Big Sky was sending alot of teams to the playoffs.

Setting high goals, which have never been met since 2001 (and maybe not met them based on academics), is great and something to work towards. But saying things are bad or down because the very high goals are not met is not valid. To me high goals should not become expectations. They are not the same, or shouldn't be.

The Cats haven't won a nation championship since 1984. The Griz have won it twice since 1995. The Griz have been in the championship game many times. The Cats haven't. The Cats and Griz have had a hard time beating the Dakota teams, but even in recent years, the Griz have done a better job.

I can't imagine the Cats would win the national championship this year, but if they do, great for them. My view is that if the Griz can get past SDSU, the Griz have as good of a chance of winning the championship as the Cats do. I firmly believe the Griz will defend the Cats more effectively if they play again. There was much to improve, and the game was still only 3 points.

I think the Griz will be hungry on Saturday, but we shall see. The week off should be good for them.

He had a lot of complimentary things to say about the team and the players, it wasn’t all just doom and gloom. And you know what, the stink of being blown out by our rivals multiple times in recent years does linger.

You might listen to the latest pod it could give you a little different opinion to his take of it all and why he thinks things need to change. Not sky is falling stuff, just wants to have the Griz be like NDSU and if anyone hates the Cats and wants the Griz to do whatever helps to topple them it is him. He is a big proponent of people/fans donating to help get the Griz to the next level. I know you have a vested interest in supporting/having the backs of the current staff against all critics but please don't go to the level of personal attacks about a mans speech impediments to wage your war as you did in a previous post. Be better

Well, well, well. You boys certainly flatter me. I appreciate all of your support, even the non ball knowers like Jack and Taber who don’t know shit about anything yet still comment on everything I do. I appreciate your engagement and commitment to being terminally online.

For the record I never have wanted to coach, so for whoever started this thread I am sorry but I am out. Thank you though for wanting the Griz to be better and not failing victim to the cult of mediocre Griz football, of which the leaders are posting on here repeatedly. They seem to be happy with one Big Sky Championship and one National title appearance in 16 years. They also seem pretty content losing to the Cats 7 of 9 years. I am happy that you demand better and are vocal about it to counter these people’s terrible opinions. You are doing great work.

Perhaps if we come together instead of wasting time on this site we can invest in the program and cure some of the previously stated deficiencies. It is certainly better than claiming everything is fine when we have had one good year in 15 and the Cats have owned us for a decade. Or we can cry about my show on here and get dominated for another decade. Your call.

(Also Jack, I have called you out by name repeatedly, especially after that Ass “give the OL some love” post. Listen to the show. I ain’t hard to find.)

Maybe someone should tell him we've wish his teams were better than wofford, UMass, and Richmond.

And spare me the cry baby comment about the personal attack, he personally attacks plenty so not too worried about your do gooder comment.

Nick has been on the podcast many times! He sponsored a "Financial tip of the week" for two seasons and we talked ball weekly doing it. It was very fun! You're welcome back any time, Tabes!

Also, Andrew Schmidt is not a semi-regular guest. He's a full fledged Skyline employee. He has multiple sponsors attached to his show and it's very popular.

As I always say, Andrew's opinions are not mine nor Skyline's. But he's an opinionated guy who's entertaining who has a big audience and that's a boost for our business and our content. Plus, he cracks me up!
Andrew gave some great opinions
Taber gives some great opinions
Hoops gives some great opinions

All 3 are smart, knowledgeable and willing to say exactly what they believe with energy. They all are 100% pro-Griz. As are many on EGriz.

I don't expect them to all agree on all things Griz.

Thanks Colter and GFP for bringing Schmidt and your other guests to Griz fans everywhere
