An apology from Rolling Stone

150px-Sabrina_Erdely.jpg

Sabrina Erdely, an Ivy League educated journalist....has a thing about rape. :?

Some of her stories include:

* Intimate Intimidation - a story about a woman who was allegedly raped by her gynecologist
* The Crime Against Women Noone Understands - a story about a serial rapist
* Why I Finally Left - a story about domestic abuse
*The Rape of Petty Officer Blumer - a story about....the rape of Petty Officer Blumer
*The Catholic Church's Secret Sex Crime Files - a self explanatory story...
* Sex, Lies and Phys Ed - a story about a female teacher raping a HS jock
* A Rape on Campus - a story about an alleged gang rape on U VA campus

She must be Gwen Florio's fricking HERO.

You don't know what endemic is. Just because something occurs less in one place than another doesn't mean it can't be endemic. The missoulian did very little investigative reporting, because hardly anyone involved would talk. It mostly did straight reporting.

Define "straight" reporting.

Reporting the news in a neutral style.

The missoulian has nothing to apologize for. They reported the news, and yes it was news. Most of the gripes against them was that they gave a brief recap of what precipitated the story, which is standard journalistic protocol in place to inform and provide background to first time readers.

As another said, you act like you had Florio on speed dial. Never mind the false, incorrect and biased information that the Missoulian published. Never mind the rumors published and innuendos made. Never mind that no one (and certainly no athletes) were convicted of anything (obviously, Donaldson pled). Never mind that no athlete who involved a lawyer in the university proceeding was ever found guility and kicked out of school. Zero journalistic or other integrity from the Missoulian on this aspect of their reporting, in my view. Had the Missoulian proceeded to publish full stories on the rumors they mentioned or alluded to, the Missoulian would be sitting next to Rolling Stone now.
You're way too biased to know the difference between good and bad journalism. You shown over the years that you don't care if a rape, robbery, kidnapping, murder or assault was committed by one of our players. You just care about having them found not guilty so they can get back on the field to give you the ONLY thing you care about which is wins. The players are mere toys to you and people like you. Like little plastic soldiers. It's sickening that people like you can infiltrate a football program to the extent you have. People like you are the reason we're on probation and the reason we had the problems we had. If you want the program to thrive go away. Let it breathe.
Please show us where he was proven wrong in a court of law.

If you think the reporting by Florio was neutral you are an imbecile. You are seriously a fool.

IF the lies, half-truths and drivel that Florio pumped out on a daily basis is what you consider "good journalism", then there's no point in continuing a discussion with you. And I KNOW what good journalism looks like. I'm married to a career newspaper reporter. The crap Florio passed off as journalism wouldn't pass the National Enquirer's threshold. It was about as FAR from "neutral" as a reporter can get.

Yeah! That bitch had an agenda..

8-)

I find it hard to understand anyone who cannot see what GF and the Missoulian did was to confabulate a "gritty, ground breaking expose" based on hints, innuendos, suppositions, accusations, and a few facts to fit a transparent agenda. The result was textbook yellow journalism. It is a disgrace that SERVED NO ONE. It isn't even close to over with the coming krack-head (sp?) book. If I was someone tainted by this mess I'd be crowd-funding one big ass legal slap down of the principals. And if anyone does, I'll donate to the cause.

Virginia's Governor has now slammed this rag of a magazine. Perhaps Bullock could get off his ass and rake the Missoulian, county prosecutors, and UM administration over the coals in a similar manner.

If Florio's reporting was that bad a bunch of you would have examples of it in your signature lines and would reference specific things she reported that were so off the wall.

Sorry, but I came perilously close to having the police show up at my door simply by calling her a name online....I'll have nothing to do with her....and "a bunch of" us would really like to just get this shit behind us and quit dredging it up every 60 days....so the LAST thing I'd want would be constant reminders in a bunch of guys' signature lines.

Too bad this news didn't break closer to April 21st. Also too bad that a spineless president was too busy genuflecting at the altar of political correctness to consider he should be an advocate for and defender of his institution's reputation.

Oh well, who is anyone in an environment like that you find on the typical university campus to let light and truth ("Lux et Veritas") get in the way of mob hysteria coupled with a sensational political agenda? And this from the same University that championed the case of Sacco & Vanzetti to me in its American history classes.

I wonder what the mood is tonight in the O'Day and Pflugrad households?

getgriz is a one of a type nut case and does not require any response.

We Griz fans are moving on and some like me are bitter. Florio would have been better suited to join Gov Bullock rather than the U. Another black mark on Royce. Politics, U can lie cheat and steal...and some dumb Fn (nuts) love it!

Really? That's the test?

How about omission?

"I don't have a condom."

"That's OK."

Not reported by Missoulian. Must not have been relevant [to the "Narrative."]

Oh yeah? I think you better do a little more research. http://missoulian.com/news/local/jordan-johnson-to-jurors-she-never-said-no/article_34590122-8117-11e2-844d-0019bb2963f4.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The entire encounter was nearly wordless, he said, other than a brief discussion of a condom - he said she asked if he had one and, when told no, she said, "That's OK" - and then the woman saying " 'Oh, you're bad' in kind of a giggly tone" when they switched to a different position.

Your credibility is in the tank 75.
