we will have an episode about the fiasco at Montana State next week.
Sorry not sorry.
Really no different than me talking to myself in the shower about the demise of the bubcats. Means nothing to 99.99% of MT. I want to cite or FW a link that people might actually open. As it stands, most have no clue, the bubz want to silence it, and incredibly the media does too. It’s crazy.
Sounds like you are afraid to put pen to paper and need to to try to explain this excuse orally, which means you are either bias towards the catz or something worse.
You came here to sling your stuff or seek validation and I will continue to call you out until you put it in ink.
You don’t have to write about it. You can continue to chose not to cover the biggest sports story in the state at a time when there is no other sports story to cover, and I will continue to call you out when you come here.

Really no different, give or take that we have a substantial audience and you post on a message board under an anonymous name.

You must live in 1994. You do realize that audio content gets about 1,000 times the traffic written content does nowadays? There’s a reason I partnered with ESPN and shifted to radio and do most of our content production on Skyline in the form of podcasts. Because that’s what you all show what you want by engaging in the content. Audio analytics blow written story analytics out of the water.

This is another place you’re confused. You want a written story. There have been quite a few. This was reported on when it happened by 406, MTN, SWX and ESPN MT. Then it was commentated on by us on ESPN MT. So what other reporting is there to do? You want comment from the President and the AD? They aren’t giving it. And the demise of local media means that reporters can’t just go stake out the president’s office. You won’t get a comment regardless, but we also have so much other stuff to cover.

Is it a column you want? A commentary giving opinions on the alleged crime and the handling of it? What would the difference be between that and a podcast giving commentary, opinion and insight into the process of reporting stories like this?

In terms of your assertion I’m here for validation, I’ve been in the media business for 17 years. There’s no validation to be found. I’m here to run and promote a business and to make money. That’s it.

We have an agreement with the board mods, hence the sticky thread on the front page.

The most amazing thing is that I could write stories about all your favorite Griz and you’d never read them. We did it for years. Very low engagement compared to any radio/podcasts we produce now. But you’d click on a salacious crime story about the rival 1,000 times. Amazing and baffling all at once.

As someone who loves the written stories, I'm willing to click extra. That "master of chaos" article last year about Baer and the defense was awesome. Some of the best sports writing I have ever read.

I actually agree with you on all of this. It was covered. Some people just want you to write an article every week flaming MSU and saying "THEY STILL AREN"T ANSWERING QUESTIONS!" That isn't an article or cast that would get much engagement.

As before, thanks for what you do. I appreciate you work and you make following the Big Sky 10,000 times better. I get that you don't need the validation, but I appreciate what you do.

You have a very odd idea of what constitutes libel/slander.

Would asking the following question be slanderous: "Waded, why weren't the coaches accused of DUI, property damage, hit and run and destruction of evidence suspended?"

How about, "Coach, why was a raise given to coaches currently under criminal investigation?"?

Or: Mr. AD (no one knows his name): "Are you aware that there is concern in your fanbase about how this matter has been handled?"

The simple fact that NO journalist has asked those questions is astounding.

Yeah these are all great points. You seem to know a lot. You know what. I think you should write a story on it!

I have a job. Which is why I'm disappointed those with this job haven't done it.

Thanks for the discussion in a thread you started on an anonymous fan message board seeking whatever. If you want me to stop calling you out HERE on this subject, it’s easy, put it in writing (or I guess stop bringing it up).

I get that you make more money on audio traffic because Griz fans are literally stuck in traffic, that’s awesome. I don’t listen and neither do 99% of the people I know. Good on ya tho. Go Griz. FTC, amirite?

But to me personally and everyone I know, it might as well be a fart in the wind. An echo in the shower. Means nothing. You keep saying you could spill the banks of English on this subject and write all kinds of stuff. Ok, let’s hear it. You seem to have the time and I guarantee we will read it.

If it’s not in writing, it didn’t happen. Everyone knows that, and that’s how it’s swept under the rug. No record; never happened.

You say it was covered already? Where are the links? Maybe with your agreement, you can make a sticky? Would be nice to have a complete story, or a comprehensive picture. I can’t believe I have to put all this together piecemeal myself.

If it was so extensively covered already, where are the police reports? What is the status of all three cases? There’s been a few news updates on some but I have no idea what’s going on with Mix. You don’t need MSdUi’s access to ask these questions. Every bub cat I know says we “don’t know all the facts”. Good grief that’s basically all MSDUI has said. Would be nice to know.

Did you know MSdUi gave that dude a raise? Did you know he had a hearing scheduled last month? Egriz was the only place that covered it—Ha! It’s even Your Go To Source

Yeah, rather shocking that a person with no ties to the industry can correctly outline how the job should be done, isn’t it? I guess it ain’t rocket surgery, which makes it all the more bewildering that it hasn’t been done.

I could see the colter update now:

Okay folks per garisslies request: I have an update: Garza woke up this morning and had eggs for breakfast. Same as last week and the week before! Also, the court date is STILL pushed back to august. Same update as last week.

Also, I couldn’t get a comment from any legitimate source but since garissiles told me I don’t need to have access to those legitimate sources, I decided he was right and I can just make things up: wait, there’s still no update.

As for mix, well, he slept on the left side of the bed last night, mixing it up from the previous night. Unknown what he had for breakfast, we are still combing through the details.

How many steps do you believe there are in this process? Do you think there’s going to be an update daily?

Does it really matter if it’s a podcast or an article? I could care less how Colter chooses to cover it, but he’s taking the time out of his busy schedule with media days looming to cover this because it’s what Griz fans want. And in case you’ve never noticed this, Colter posts his podcasts in the form of an article with an easy to access link that you can easily find on Skyline Sports that will be there forever. Garizzalies, I suggest you cool it cause once this podcast comes out, Colter will have covered this story more than anyone else in the state. I’m sure the podcast will be chalk full of info and facts that you have not heard yet. Who cares if it’s an article or a podcast? I prefer a podcast as do many other people. It will be just as easily accessible as an article and you’re bound to get lots of information you have not gotten anywhere else. Maybe he will try to reach out to the athletic department and presidents office. He can just as easily read their quotes as he could write it. Cool it!

What? Where did you get the bolded info? Got a link or just making stuff up again?

I never really got bubcat humor. It’s like British comedy. Too technically maybe? Like engineers making inside jokes about train driving. No real creativity and no wonder you spend all day here, your own board must be miserable.

Anyways, does it seem like the state’s best sports news company is going out of its way to explain (apparently to only half the state) why it won’t write an article about the state’s biggest sporting news story (even tho it apparently would be covered differently if it happened in this half of the state)?

Fall camp is weeks away. Looks like one guy is facing min of 30 days in jail.

Is there any other sports story to “cover” right now?

I’m certainly willing to click on and review his “article” next week. Would love to hold it in my hand tho. I’m old school. WTF am I buying the god damned paper for?!?

If it's a Lee Enterprises paper, I wonder why too!

I'd just like to see those newscasters from Spokane masquerading as Montanans in the 5-7 am slot on KULR 8, who gush nothing but bobcat sandbox batter, to have to read out loud on air about this dumpster fire brewing in kitty land. Maybe show mug shots of these fine coaches and pics of the wrecks? Maybe Coulter could edit and send a 30 or 60 second story to them with all the gory details. I'd like really them to be true to their tag line and play the clip NON STOP on my LOCAL channel.

There, I feel better already.

No, there is not any other story to cover, but it won't be covered as we've seen.

But, we do need to take a step back - CN is not currently claiming to be a "journalist." He is the Director of Creativity for skyline, which is quite the opposite of a journalist IMO.

Personally, I'd like to see the arrangement he has with the mods to get free exposure here...is it free? I am thinking about starting a business and I'd like to peddle my creativity here on eGriz. I think everyone would like what I have to sell.

Yes it matters. The podcasts seem to take nearly two hours to cover a written article I could read in 20 minutes.

Rock//Colter\\Hardplace

Credibilty

Maybe, some day, they come together.
It the mean time, sitting on the fence is...
Perception is reality.

Some SWX feedback for you Colter: Your show is unwatchable, frustrating, and put together like a high schooler might do from his basement. Due to your non-stance on the MSdUi thing, I see you as a scat shill. Goodbye.

When people say they prefer the written articles, I get it. I do too. Sadly, we are in the minority.

It is entirely fair, though, for Colter to object to people who accuse him of not covering it. He doesn't write articles, really. In the way that he covers the Big Sky Conference, he has discussed it. And he has probably given more total discussion to it than anyone else. So even though we may prefer media in written form, you really can't say that "he didn't cover it." He did, in the way that they cover everything.

The problem is the newspapers in this state SUCK!!! There is a void where there used to be sports/sports related reporting. There is an opportunity for some entrepreneurial spirit to snatch up. It won't be CatColter.
