Alabama vs Citadel, Alabama vs GRIZ??

to help in recruiting, kids going home to play in front of family and friends,,,,staying with the pac. 12 makes the only sense to me.....these are the states we recruit in.....must fish where the fish are !

It would be a money game. But that late in the season it does not make any sense. Get guys banged up especially if you’re close to making a playoff run.

if there is one thing you don't want to do....its go get your ass beat and injured either in the middle of conf play or at the end of conf play. A great way to make your program seem worthless to end the season.

This could rank as one of the most stupidest idea yet.

No it is not.
I'm sticking with the "half dome" idea for our stadium.

FWIW, any late season FBS game (Alabama, Tenn., or Ball State) is a poor idea. If you're going to play them do it early. Late in the season let the kids get dialed in for the playoffs. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the new normal is IDAHO then MT state for our final two weeks each year. :ugeek:

Give me:

Utah State
Boise State
Colorado State
Air Force
Wazzu
Colorado
UW
Oregon
Oregon State
Nevada

If we could just stick with those schools i'd be happy.

Oh, and any school in Texas so i could drive to see them play. :D :D :D

Get the program back on it's feet and then you can be more competitive in these types of games. I would rather seem em play an FBS team than Western State. Hopefully they will give Oregon a better game than they gave Washington last season.

Yeah, part of the problem with this is always the timing. The Griz have had really bad luck with this.

They always manage to play an FBS team when they are peaking. They play UW when they are a FBS playoff team. They play Oregon when they go 11-1, with their only loss to USC. They don’t end up playing a lower level PAC12 squad, like Oregon State this year.

Also, it always seems like these games happen during the year when the Griz are in rebuild mode, with a first year starting QB.

Nope. Only a fan of the FBS games if they’re winnable. I went to Knoxville to watch us get crushed by a “superior” SEC team and it wasn’t worth it. Plus, they pay the FCS teams less than what they pay the inferior FBS teams.

If I remember correctly, it was the first game of the year, and we almost went to the FCS championship that year. If McSurdy and crew had another quarter, I think they would have beaten Sam Houston State that year to go to the title?

I was at the game with my wife. I think we even met EG there, but can't be sure. Definitely met Joe Montana for a dismissive handshake. Can't blame him. Anyway, we were never in that game. JJ's first start as QB1, if I'm not mistaken. The Vol fans were beyond welcoming, and complimentary of our program. It was a great time, and my pregnant wife didn't even throw up after her third kegstand in the parking lot. Trooper.

You did indeed, Mr. CDA. Loved the Vol fans, hated the hangover they so graciously provided.

But nothing beats your wife in the tailgates. Epic.

Might have to go with your "half dome" beer garden, and everything else is good.

that's funny...I was always thinking the same thing. Oregon was in rebuild the last couple years, but sure as shit they are doing well again for next season. Even freaking Hawai'i with Colt Brennan...I mean COME ON!
