Adam Jones write up

So for arguments sake let's say Chase Cook from Red Lodge ends up playing well for Griz. He wasn't given a sniff from Cats. Will we then say it is because the attitude that MT kids aren't good enough to crack the Cats roster? Or are there many factors that go into recruiting..like that they already have a lot of scholarships allocated that year towards a certain position group? Or that they have a huge need in another group? Many factors go into it. Cats are loaded at that position group right now so I get why Cook didn't get an offer. Like others said Griz had Gilman and Iverson and Fonoti on the radar. Did Griz miss on Jones? Yep but it looks like it all worked out for him.
cats recruited him.

"Red Lodge senior Chase Cook announced he was committing to the Grizzlies as a running back. He had earned Class B all-state honors in 2023 while playing running back, linebacker and return specialist. He also had offers from Montana Tech, Carroll College, Rocky Mountain College, Minot State."
Maybe by recruiting him, he meant they sent him a postcard.

Lol. Is it a coincidence that coyote and peyote are spelled similarly?
Or is he just wrong about everything?

The RB room is pretty deep in Bozeman but they could use a LB. I thinks they went with the Malta kid instead. I think he will be a nice player for the griz. Those RB/LB types with athleticism can usually find their way to the field, especially in the hybrid nickel defenses the griz run.

Ya, I’m already on record saying I think the scats may have the deepest backfield in the Big Sky next year. Not counting Tommy, the Griz had a better 1-2 this year but you add in Tommy and it’s a wrap.

Honest question, even though you're an asshat bub:

Where was he going to play at Montana? When was he going to play at Montana? Look, he's a great talent and obviously as exceeded expectations. But he wasn't cracking the top 3 in UM's RB room, and to be perfectly honest, probably wouldn't crack next year's top 5.

Consider yourself fortunate that UM is loaded at RB, and go the fuck back to litterboxnation.
You might be one of the dumber posters on this forum.

Jones wasn't nearly the runner he is now, and hadn't developed himself in the weight room like he did after he left high school. He was a good student in high school. I would guess he is one of the guys Dane Oliver was talking about when he said some of the Sentinel guys liked MSU for academics. Jones had a nice year, but I would take at least 3 of the UM backs in 2024 over him. I didn't get to see enough of Rocker to figure out how good he is. Looks like the Griz have another good frosh coming too. And then there's the top and highly rated frosh who redshirted a year and then departed before the 2024 season. No room at the in for Jones at UM, and he made himself a much stronger kid after high school or before starting at MSU.

In playoffs, Jones averaged 3.7 against USD in 18 carries. 4.1 against Idaho in 23 carries with 3 TD’s. Was 7-45 against UTM.

Bobby is not egomaniacal at all. That's just not true. In fact, it's total BS. He did not single handedly lose the Griz games this season. Again, just not true, and in fact total BS. I don't know why some people who don't know Hauck, don't know the situation, and don't know what they're talking about, say such incredibly dumb stuff like that. You must be a total idiot.
Adam Jones was a tremendous RB in High School. He should be a Griz. I do have knowledge of the HS scene in Montana and we are losing the instate recruiting battle. I think our backs are fine, but we are missing on a lot of Montana talent.

Can you tell me why some of these recruits from Missoula and Kalispell are going to MSU? I understand the Crews thing, but there has to be something else. The best players from Montana are not going to the University of Montana. I believe we were fortunate to get Bergen as he committed first to MSU, But Choate left. I am genuinely curious why we stopped recruiting the best in state as was the norm.

A lot of Kalispell players have gone to both Cats and Griz historically. Rollins dad was a Cat. Griz are still recruiting everywhere. The Griz had an advantage for years and honestly the Cats caught up when Choate brought in BJ Robertson as Special Teams coach and he recruited the state. He had deep roots and was a great recruiter. He knew every high school coach in the state and really worked those connections. It was similar when Bobby had Kraig Paulson (the original 37) in his first go around. BJ left (not sure where he is now) but the momentum changed then in my opinion. Griz still had a lot of Missoula players on roster last year and 5 from Kalispell and even 4 from Boz Angeles.

You think that means he wasn't recruited by them? The superintendent at his school played for the Griz.

I know Fitz did. The Cats also have a young OL Mastel from Red Lodge that has played quite a bit this year. Fitz's nephews both just recently played for Cats. The Griz went after Cook hard. The Cats did not offer him anything. So if your definition of recruiting is a couple of letters and an invite to Junior Day then he was recruited.

Good post.

I absolutely forgot about BJ. Recruiting connections matter. Just peaking at Vim's list who in my opinion has a firm grasp on who is FBS, FCS, and NAIA talent level. We are not getting the best instate kids.

BJ is now at Nevada with Choate.

John Fitzgerald is both the RL superintendent and head football coach. He has completely resurrected a nearly dead RL program over the last few years. Unlike brother Greg at Dillon (both have Griz NC rings) John is still a Griz. Stitt messed up Greg and his family.

He didn't go to junior day. He told them he was going to UM.

Fitz has been there 20 years. He has put in a lot of work there. The facilities are also top notch now.

You obviously understand why I started this post. The others on here with full colored maroon glasses and insults have zero comprehension what is going on within the state, with continued blind faith in the leaders of this program. Bozeman, Moscow and the Dakotas are ahead of what Montana is in its current state.

We most definitely are not getting the best of Montana. You can look at Vim's list and look at the past few years and you will see where the top talent is going.

I would like to see us secure the top of talent Montana has to offer.
You asked why they "stopped" recruiting Montana and I said they hadn't. This is different than not getting.
