A Waste of Time?

I only recently discovered the value of the news section and greatly appreciate the work you put into it. If it could be made more readily accessible, that'd be a plus.

I myself love the news section. It is hard sometimes to find great articles and your posts put them all in one place.
 
I clicked on it once, realized I had to login and retreated because I’m lazy. I looked at it today and kicked myself for not realizing it’s buried treasure. Why is a login required?
 
I think the news section is excellent. I love having all the available articles in one place. If a person can't take the 10 seconds to log in, they don't deserve the content.
 
For many years I did not have access to the news section since I was not a registered user. The same is true for literally thousands of non registered guests. Is it possible - and this is only a guess since I don’t run a bulletin board, that since the news section is predominantly links to other sites, that using it is a resource drain so the site owners have made a business decision to limit its use to registered users?
 
Sorry guys if i broke the party rules, but when you are an old Griz, you sometimes want to post a reply on one topic and jack it up by posting on another site. as Mr. Irrelevant ..Happy Veterans Day,
 
Coming from someone who visits the site frequently but rarely logs in, I'd say you're wasting your time if views/reach is the goal. I read the Sagarin post (thanks for digging it up, by the way) only because it was in the main section. Never would have seen it if it was kept in the news section.
 
I admit, I haven't been to the news section for a long time. I went tonight and really enjoyed it. I found articles that were great to read, like I come on here two or 3 times a day looking for, looing for anything new or different.
I really hope you keep the news section going - I am a believer in it's value. Thank you for the effort.

I'm a believer in more threads posted and left in the Main forum, especially if posted with a good descriptive title. I don't open lots of threads, after glancing at the title. People who make posts like this one should be limited to one post per week, or month.
They muck up threads and egriz.

Oh, are you talking about threads discussing former Griz football players who now play top level rugby? Do you support banning threads on saying what Brandon Dotson is doing now, and his videos?

It may seem overly harsh, but the realistic answer is "yes" it is a waste of time, in most cases. Since I have a Ph.D. -- "Pile it High and Deeper" -- I could come up with "stretchy" rationales for lots of apparently-irrelevant topics on the Football forum. But the reality is that most people only follow this one (and perhaps basketball) and may not even know what other "specialty" forums are hosted by eGriz. As PR says, it would be nice if people would use somewhat more meaningful titles for their threads. (I'm sure I've failed on that score too, but it's still a valid point.) Personally, I only "follow" the football and basketball forums.

I must admit I have never read what the acronym Ph. D really represented (Pile it High and Deeper) That was some funny scheiz. Egriz is a veritable plethora of knowledge and I thank all that contribute.

It’s being read. It’s not racking up the views as much as other posts because we can’t discuss on them so there’s no reason to return.
