A Sneak Peak at 2025

Maybe he did and the players made ongoing errors on the field regardless?
Then I would say that there needs to be other adjustments made.
Bobby has been known to say after a loss that we weren’t expecting that kind of play, if you’re not expecting it, then adjust during the game, don’t continue to play it out. Do something different, it’s very frustrating to watch the same shit over and over.
Will the opposing quarterback have 6 touchdowns passes this week?
Will the opposing quarterback be named Big Sky Player of the Week again?
That is why fans are discouraged.
Enough for me, I’ll be at the game tomorrow, I’ll stay til the end, I’ll have a sore throat from cheering and hopefully it’ll be a much better walk across the bridge after the game.
GO GRIZ

Exactly. Players were talking about it on the field right after the game. Our zone was actually not too bad but every time we loaded the box, went man, sent the house, etc., we got cooked. Weebs had a perfect response and game plan, and basically rolled the dice a few times with quick, deep releases. Gradney gets the brunt of the blame but truth is he had no help over the top which would have made those throws much harder.
Those bad-mouthing the talent level on D as some kind of huge drop off this year are clueless. Yes losing Gub, Brax, and TC were big losses, Janacaro and Walker to a lesser extent, which we have struggled to replace but overall the D talent is not as far off as some believe. Harris is having a phenomenal year, better than any D-end last year. Wilson too. Tirrell is playing great. Lee has been graded the third highest on the team through 6 games. Meyer’s first game back. Believe it or not, the hardest to replace has been TC and hopefully we get Klucewich back after the bye. The talent level may not be as high this year but also not some huge cliff as some claim. The reality is the coaching has been the biggest drop off. Rookie coordinators making wrong calls, late calls, inconsistent calls, confusion, no adjustments, and plain old bad game plans.
The evidence contradicts your statement. It hasn't just been one game. We have nowhere near the talent to run this defense.

And I have a bad feeling NAU's QB will end up being BSC POW.
He's their 3rd string QB. He's a redshift junior that has never seen the field except briefly last week. If he were good don't you think he would have some stats over the years? We're safe as kittens, put some pressure on him, griz should win easy.

I've stopped thinking...especially about Griz performances. It hurts too much. Don't be surprised if he lights us up.

Maybe, but the drop off from the likes of Gubner, Hill, Fouch, Edwards, Cotton, Walker, Janacaro, and Flink looks very significant.
I mentioned 5 of those 7 in my post.
Also, Lee was starting over Fouch by the end of the season. Harris is having a much better year than Edwards. PFF ranked Wilson #3 while he wasn’t even starting last year. The argument could be made that Tirrell is having a better year than Flink or LJ.
That leaves Gub, Hill, and TC as the main losses. Three guys. All elite no doubt, but still only 3.
And some injuries this year have not helped.
All I’m saying is the talent drop off is not as humongous as some of the doom spiralers are claiming. Significant, ok maybe. But the D calls are just as significant, possibly even bigger, and that can be fixed. Not sure if it will be, but I am not ready to give up on this D yet.

Guess we can agree to disagree.

I don’t think one can overstate how large the drop off is from Gubner to this year. Gubner flat wrecked offensive game plans. His strength, acceleration, agility, and stamina were unique for his position. There’s nobody like that on this defense except for Wilson. Losing that impact on the line impacts everybody else, in a significant manner.

Cotton, Walker, and Fouch were clearly much bigger losses than anyone anticipated.
Not a big disagreement from me. But again Lee was starting over Fouch and has been playing great and Klucewich got hurt at practice while Gordon has not lived up to the hype yet. Walker was good but we seem to have more depth at corner this year.
Probably not as good but also not a cliff

Nobody said otherwise
But he’s still only one guy.

I think if you just consider the overall depth, not just the starters, it is significant.

Ok but you also have to consider the injuries this year too if you’re talking overall depth.
The bigger question is that most posters are focusing on the talent and claiming some huge cliff while ignoring the drop with defensive calls. Don’t think that’s consistent with what the players believe

I think Walker was the best CB on the team last season, IIRC he wasn't targeted as much as Gradney or others.

Again, I think we just agree to disagree. I for one don't think the talent level this year is anywhere near what it was last year on the defensive side of the ball.
