Exactly. Players were talking about it on the field right after the game. Our zone was actually not too bad but every time we loaded the box, went man, sent the house, etc., we got cooked. Weebs had a perfect response and game plan, and basically rolled the dice a few times with quick, deep releases. Gradney gets the brunt of the blame but truth is he had no help over the top which would have made those throws much harder.
Those bad-mouthing the talent level on D as some kind of huge drop off this year are clueless. Yes losing Gub, Brax, and TC were big losses, Janacaro and Walker to a lesser extent, which we have struggled to replace but overall the D talent is not as far off as some believe. Harris is having a phenomenal year, better than any D-end last year. Wilson too. Tirrell is playing great. Lee has been graded the third highest on the team through 6 games. Meyer’s first game back. Believe it or not, the hardest to replace has been TC and hopefully we get Klucewich back after the bye. The talent level may not be as high this year but also not some huge cliff as some claim. The reality is the coaching has been the biggest drop off. Rookie coordinators making wrong calls, late calls, inconsistent calls, confusion, no adjustments, and plain old bad game plans.

Also gone: Depth guys Childs, Harris, Grossman, Osteen, Hustedt

Obviously classes come and go and this is something every team goes through to some extent, and this is an exceptionally large senior class with the remnants of the “Covid” year players, but who, on this current squad, is stepping up to these positions? (RB & QB are fine)

I agree. Hard to say how they prepped heading into the week. I don’t know how they make adjustments at half within their coaching staff. They played well in the 3rd quarter until about 12 minutes to go in the game then it went to hell.

Please explain this using facts and basic logic. Not even talking sh!t, but this makes zero sense. Grossman graduated HS in 2018! He has taken a greyshirt, redshirt, a medical redshirt, a Covid year, and then played in 2 seasons in addition to washing out of this season. The math is not mathin' here bud.

You are essentially saying he's going to be playing next year as a 25 or 26 year old, which is absurd.

On top of it all, is he really good enough to justify this level of wait and anticipation? We barely use the TE as it is- Grossman has all of 850 yards in his entire career.
