A rebuilt secondary(for better or worse)

I'll be interested to see if they give Dallaserra a chance to start opposite of Witted. He's our most experienced safety and was serviceable when out there. A good run stopper but up and down in pass coverage.

Both Garner and Johnson were solid ST contributors. While nowhere near a quantifiable reason I've seen quite frequently DBS that stand out on ST translate that into good secondary play the next season. It happens too with transfers, think of Roots, Dodson, and Goodwin. Good ST players as juniors and pretty good to real good starters as DBs as seniors. N

McKinley was in line to steal time from Nelson a bit early but had an injury, shoulder or something, real early, maybe the 2nd or 3rd game of the season. Will be interesting if he can bounce back.

Nelson needs to find consistency. I've seen him rock it in practice and I've even hinted that he could steal time from Dennard or Harris. Then come game time he's good and then he's not so good. I see the talent with this guy, consistency is key. He'll be tested for sure.

Epperly is my dark horse pick to make noise in the depth. Liked what I saw out of him as a true freshman in fall camp.
Agreed in Dallesera for sure and really everything eles for that matter.
Wondering if you know if Gratton's career is truly over and if Rassmussen truly had academic issues and should they be cleared up by fall or even spring?

Going to go back and edit my original post, Dallaserra is our most experienced backup, Whitted is obviously our most returning experienced safety.

Gratton, I'm told, has hung it up due to ongoing health concerns.

Gratton retired in the mid-summer due to lingering issues and headaches from concussions, probably the bad one he had in the fall of '13 when he missed 4 or 5 weeks. Outside of school, he makes river surfboards and surfs. He's mentioned prominently in this article.
