A Post for all the Fairweathers

So let me get this straight. Criticizing a coaching staff that had a losing season last year and is now 0-1 in BSC play is being a fair weather fan? I by no means expected the Griz to have an undefeated season or play in the chipper this year. I do expect them to play close games and make the playoffs. I certainly expect better than what we saw last night. If criticizing the coaching staff (who are getting paid to do a job) and the players (who should feel privileged to wear the uniform) is bad. Well, then I am just a bad fan. Maybe that is the consequence of the last few years for the U of M. Lowered expectations and acceptance of mediocrity.

I hate to break it to you but being a fan does not mean blind allegiance. Fans have every right to be upset at a performance like tonight. The team did not have it and NAU smacked them in the mouth with nothing back at them. No fight at all. Yes, the kids played hard but it was a poor night and just because people point that out does not mean they are fairweather....sometimes it means they have eyeballs and witnessed a NAU team show up very prepared with a great gameplan and executed it against a team that did not on both sides.

It is not the end of the world, however, this was the first true test the Griz had and they failed badly. Here is to moving on to PSU.

All night long I watched GRIZ FOOTBALL PLAYERS walk off the field with their heads down! WTF! GRIZ FOOTBALL PLAYERS have never done that! Then they just went and sat down on the bench showing no emotion! I'm tellin ya folks that shows me the players have no leadership! They looked defeated and I've never seen a GRIZ look that way, showing no emotion!

A post from just a fan with an opinion;

The highlight of the game, was MD putting his head phones away for the night at the end of the game.

What else could be said, other than congratulation, Jerome, for being prepared, and having your team motivated enough to dominate the game on both sides of the ball, and just beating the shit out of a team not prepared and motivated.

Jerome didn't need any half time adjustments, and the the Griz didn't have any.

For the first time I saw JJ with an emotional outburst, throwing his helmet to the ground returning to the sidelines, wonder why.

Comments from a fan with an opinion, not a sugar coating lemming.

We lost this game at the line of scrimmage. plain and simple

It is that plain and simple! But when we have the best Lines on both sides of the ball, how the hell does that happen?????

Plain and simple, You do not have the best lines on both sides of the ball, unless you play crappy teams. That is reality.

Enter all the naysayers and fair weaver fans. Yes, we blew it tonight, but I am still proud of this team. We will rebound. We will make the necessary adjustments this week and hand it to PSU. Go Griz

The rude wake up call in flagstaff could prove to be the best thing that happens to the griz....failure is a good teacher, surely last nights beat down has gotten the attention of all

Go Grizzlies!

This UM team has terrific leadership. You don't know what you're talking about.

f*** you. The players sucked, the coaches sucked, preparation and execution sucked. Why the hell can't a guy say that and still be a fan?

You can. It just makes you a bad fan.

I have no problem with fans complaining, criticizing or whatever. it's a free country. It's when you think you were owed something tonight or you as a fan DESERVE the Griz to win, that's when you come across as..well..nevermind

What amuses me is when posters unduly criticize players, coaches, etc. (and think it's their god-given right), but when another poster criticizes the original poster's comments, then the poster starts crying like a little baby and saying they're entitled to their opinion (as if other posters can't have opinions on posters).

PR..... When da boys are walkin off the field and just sitting without any emotion, m directing the lack of leadership to the coaches not the players. The players were depleted of all emotion, they were empty souls and none of the coaches made a concerted effort to pick them up emotionally.

first, I don't care what you call me,, the o-line should be called out..they did not pass block, run block, show any emotion, looked like feet were in cement, penalties,,and we will not have to wonder for long how the griz will be without jj, because he was being clobbered....the o-line sucked....and they could have done something about it, but chose not to do so...

I saw emotion. JJ slammed his helmet on the ground as he sat down. You can bet your ass he wasn't happy with the way last night went.

This loss can be good for them. 3-0 doesn't mean shit, you gotta check your ego at the door and be ready to fight every saturday. Griz had an ego check last night, and I hope it stokes that fire and rekindles those feelings from last season that NO ONE wants to experience again.

If you think the players played well, and the coaches coached well, and the gameplan and execution were good, then we are in for a long season. That performance was pathetic, and saying so doesn't make me a bad fan. Dumbass.

Out of curiosity, what is your definition of a fairweather fan? I am sure some of the more level headed posters will have some good post, and even call out players, play calling, and units. Does that make them a fairweather fan?

I'm not a fairweather fan, but will be the 1st to admit, we got our asses kicked. The offense, play calling, decision making, OL, basically the team except special teams stunk this game.

The question is, will this game the exception, or become the norm? I am most disappointed in our OL play. Does criticizing these things make someone a fairweather fan?

The game is over and time to move onto PSU.

I agree with mtgrizrule. The Griz sucked tonight, if that makes me a fairweather fan in your eyes, than so be it. I guess not all of us can be perfect Griz fans like some of you. ;) So can we only come on here and talk about how great the Griz are after a win or can we talk about how bad they played too?

Just for kicks here is a definition of a fairweather fan for you. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fair+weather+fan" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The ones who criticize the team do not seem to fall under this so perhaps you can explain to us what a fairweather fan is. A fan can still support their team while wondering what the hell just happened to them. I have season tix and went to half the games last year and half this year, regardless of their record. I am a huge Griz fan no matter what, so go ahead and call me a fairweather fan if you want. I guess BWahlberg is a fairweather fan in your opinion too after his well thought out post game report. Life as an allweather fan must be nice so good for you. :thumb:

Mtgrizrule, this poster also hinted in another thread that Tripp has juiced. WTF?

Sorry kurtismichael but I did not hint that Tripp juices up. I stated the play when he got ran over by Bauman reminded me of the play in the movie The Program. I doubt Tripp has juiced or he would have taken Bauman down instead of getting ran over. The point I was making is that Tripp is not going to come close to winning the Buck Buchanan award. It would be cool if he did but not when he plays like that. Just like the front seven is not the best in the FCS. Interpret my posts how you want but I never said Tripp juices up.

WOW, I have never ever said or posted, TRIPP or any GRIZ is juicing. If that was ever interpreted that way, I apologize for my wording to make one think that. The only post I made that could possibly make one think of that was my smart ass comment about MaGhee returning to the Cats this weekend. I posted a remark of "What are Cat fans feeding him to have him return as soon as he did.

To Jordan Tripp and all GRIZ fans, I have never implied a GRIZ is juicing. Even if one were, I would not be posting it anywhere. That is way to private amongst that person and the team for me to post it.

I wasn't saying you implied that but was pointing out that 1Griz_Fan implied that. He clarified his statement so no harm no foul.

C'mon people....a fairweather fan is obvious. They are not here posting this week. They will be back bragging about how we will be in the NC, after we smack PSU.

I was talking about you being a bad fan, not the game. If you think one game early in a season makes or breaks a season, then you clearly don't understand sport, especially football.
