A Partial Dome for WaGriz?

There have been many threads over the past few weeks about the weather & the cold at WaGriz, and they seem to increase as the weather gets colder. And, unlike Hammer, et al., there's talk of people opting to stay home & watch the playoff games at home. To me, these people are displaying common sense, unlike Hammer, et al. I don't have any common sense either: I'm going to the App-UM game. Look, MT in Dec. is not like an October day at a Harvard-Yale game, where people come bundled up amid falling, colorful tree leaves, sipping whiskey from a hip-flask on a calm, sunny day in 30-40 degree temps.

If the UM program is going to produce playoff games for the foreseeable future, maybe even snagging the NC game in Jan., there has to be some reality re: the weather. All I propose is a partial dome, where the roof is open to let in some weather, sunlight, etc. I propose this as the next upgrade to WaGriz.

Never, ever, under no circumstances. The open air stadium keeps the fair weather fans at home for the most important games of the year. All the Crazy's come out when it get's cold.

Besides that, how the hell are we supposed to have the skydivers land on the 50 if we got a damm dome??????

a dome would ruin WashGriz Stadium, haven't we already had this conversation??

No way.

Dome teams consistantely stink it up when they have to go outdoors or play in adverse weather. Football was meant to be played outside.

The dome idea went out with the first expansion. It was originally built to facilitate a dome, but the north end zone construction took care of that. It structurally isn't possible, unless you were to build a tent type structure that was completely self-supporting.

And it is a ridiculous idea.

Boy that Lambeau field would really be nice with a roof on it? :)

that would be Blasphemy! same with Soldier Field! Just look at the mess called the Metrodome, no wonder they want to tear it down and return to an open top stadium........

Add this one, too, to the (long) list of David2 idiotic posts. Put this one at the top.

How about a large bowl? Lets build up the stands on all sides to hold, say about 40,000 people. Won't be a dome but might keep some of the nasty wind out of the premium seats.....

Things dumber than a partial dome:

Half a blowjob
Diet cheese frys
and most posts from ronblow

Seriously, football is meant to be played outside in ANY temperature, if you dont like that, there are sports for you like indoor soccer and laser tag.

The day Wa. Griz gets a dome is the last time I care about this program. Who cares if people are talking about staying home, I guarantee this game sells out. If you live in Montana & can't spend 4 hours in 25 degree weather maybe you need to think about a move to Arizona or Texas.

One more thing, I like how David compares Wa. Griz to Harvard-Yale. This is real football being watched by real football fans, not a bunch of yuppies sitting around sniffing their own farts while drooling over their kid getting into Vassar.

Ah yes, but just imagine 26,000 David2s in a partially domed stadium at a family firendly 65 degrees, respectfully quiet when the visiting teams are offense, and butts firmly in seat throughout half-time... Must be the way football is played in heaven!
