A New Age Approach to the Portal....

You, me and the rest of Montana taxpayers are bobby's boss. As such, using Hauck's logic, should he or Vigen be out sniffing other coaching opportunities, they should be immediately and summarily fired without a buyout. Agreed?
Ha, well slightly different situation in my opinion but I like where you're going!

And if I'm Bobby's boss, I'd like to see him in my office tomorrow morning to give him his disciplinary action for poor work performance.

While I can appreciate Dillingham's approach, I tend to agree with Hauck's take on the portal (at least I think it's his take), if you don't want to be here...there's the door.
Dillingham is just one example of the new age of coaches. Young, energetic, can relate well to college aged athletes, uses the media as a tool instead of treating them like interrogators. He has built a winner with tremendous culture in less than 24 months. His players would go to war for him and that has and will continue translate to good recruiting. ASU has also recently become "All-In" on athletics. Sun Devils will be a fun follow with him at the helm.

The problem with someone like UM hiring someone like this is if they are good, they aren't around for long, but I'll take that over a 55 year old lifetime assistant coach who gets more pissed off by the day at what the college game is evolving into.

Why? The rules and norms for coaches aren’t the same as for players and shouldn’t be.

Watch YouTube “Ducks vs Them” game 11 and especially game 12 (Husky game) to see how a young coaching staff motivates their players. Incredible. Remember, Dillingham was part of that staff prior to ASU. Hauck certainly picks players that want to be or can be coached in his style. But times, they are a changin’.

It’s all a bunch of BS. Our society has gotten soft. Treat people with kid gloves, don’t offend, be soft..
It’s a total freakin joke. Football is a warrior gladiator sport. If you aren’t in it to fight, to survive, to win then DONT be part of it!
It’s okay to be yelled at in football practice., or the service or even at work! If you f up you should be called out so you can correct X.
But for people to shrink and cry and have there feelings hurt is truly weakening our society..
ok off my soap box.
Vince, said it pretty clearly....

Have seen some of these. They are a hell of a recruiting tool and a pretty cool behind the scenes look for fans. Several of the videos have in game audio from coaches headsets. Very cool. Very anti Hauck.

I never saw Don Read or Joe Glen undress players like Hauck.
Don Read. Anyone else remember going to his Griz Den weekly luncheon during the season? He was more visible to the entire community at each weekly lunch than Hauck is in a year. Marketing and PR for the team and UM. Kind of like the signing day question others had.

DO MORE THAN EXPECTED! Has to help recruiting, NIL efforts, fan support, etc.

Isn't Hauck one of the highest paid State employees? Seems these coaches somehow convince us all that their jobs are the most tedious time consuming stressful 24/7 jobs anyone has. I continue to wonder how busy tedious and time consuming their jobs are in January February May June and July.....along with parts of December, March and April.

Like many I’m disappointed he didn’t do a signing day presser. And if true that there is no awards banquet it is an absolute shame for all of our seniors and players.

He is the 7th highest paid employee at the university. Don’t know where that places him in the state. Certainly not the top.

Hauck does the coaches show on Wednesdays which is the current iteration of the den as it is broadcast to a broader audience.

He also was a big push for addressing the need for an indoor facility and rallying boosters. He was instrumental in building the QB club back up from ridiculously low numbers after Stitt. I think he’s commented on NIL plenty but letting someone like Marcus be the voice is probably wise.

I don’t know if you can knock the guy more in season. He does his pre, post and halftime game interviews for the radio/television teams. He does a Monday presser and a postgame presser for the public, he does a weekly QB club meeting and he has his weekly production meeting with the television crews. That doesn’t include any of his player or staff meetings, or practices. Add in the in season recruiting, game film review of previous game/grading and game film review of upcoming games. I’m pretty sure all the coaches put in far more than a full time job from August to the end of season.

Then we add in the portal for the next month and we are almost to spring ball. Then you have winter conditioning and preparing for the spring training sessions. They work a lot for that salary. Think about the assistants that are putting in as many hours for much less pay.

I agree he could and should be less of a prick with the media and he needs to change his attitude on this new era of athletes and recruit current players because we can’t have Kale Edwards and Vince Genatone type players walk out the door. He did show the last two years he’s capable of changes with demoting Rosie, getting rid of Germer, hiring outside of the known, and giving the reigns to Bradford in year one as a DC. We will see if he can do it on a non contract year.

How many of these young fun coaches have won National Championships? We’ve already established that being the winningest coach in the history of the conference, winning the most conference titles and going to 4 National Championship games isn’t good enough. Unless Oregon wins it all they need a change, correct?

I've seen and been to many of them. I don't find them to be a recruiting tool at all.

You don't think the coaches are busy now in December with the Portal? What planet are you from?

Genatone registered 1 tackle and no other stats this season.

Where's a link to the signing press conference or event last December?

Can't imagine. Wasaaay busier than any normal dud griz supporter. I know what you're saying but I just sense some coasting. Too busy to watch a local recruit (Jerry Rice finalist) play legion baseball in Missoula in the summer when a coach from MSU can.....several times. Too busy to squeeze in a Missoula civic group presentation the head coach has made for decades in July or August? Huh?

I'm on Earth.

he literally said on the Pat Mcafee show they are one of his biggest recruiting tools, and he must be right since he just signed his 2nd top five class and current has the number one class for 26.

You mean at Nebraska? Do you not agree that he and Kale would have made our defense better this year?

I think we had plenty going on last year at this time as far as positive press. This year, not so much.
