Like many I’m disappointed he didn’t do a signing day presser. And if true that there is no awards banquet it is an absolute shame for all of our seniors and players.
He is the 7th highest paid employee at the university. Don’t know where that places him in the state. Certainly not the top.
Hauck does the coaches show on Wednesdays which is the current iteration of the den as it is broadcast to a broader audience.
He also was a big push for addressing the need for an indoor facility and rallying boosters. He was instrumental in building the QB club back up from ridiculously low numbers after Stitt. I think he’s commented on NIL plenty but letting someone like Marcus be the voice is probably wise.
I don’t know if you can knock the guy more in season. He does his pre, post and halftime game interviews for the radio/television teams. He does a Monday presser and a postgame presser for the public, he does a weekly QB club meeting and he has his weekly production meeting with the television crews. That doesn’t include any of his player or staff meetings, or practices. Add in the in season recruiting, game film review of previous game/grading and game film review of upcoming games. I’m pretty sure all the coaches put in far more than a full time job from August to the end of season.
Then we add in the portal for the next month and we are almost to spring ball. Then you have winter conditioning and preparing for the spring training sessions. They work a lot for that salary. Think about the assistants that are putting in as many hours for much less pay.
I agree he could and should be less of a prick with the media and he needs to change his attitude on this new era of athletes and recruit current players because we can’t have Kale Edwards and Vince Genatone type players walk out the door. He did show the last two years he’s capable of changes with demoting Rosie, getting rid of Germer, hiring outside of the known, and giving the reigns to Bradford in year one as a DC. We will see if he can do it on a non contract year.
