A Comedy of Errors

JJ MADE TWO HUGE MISTAKES. It was not coachching fault. Ot you want to blame anyone. Blame Coach G. For calling a timeout before half. Which was still the right call

Frankly more than two. He got away with at least two more that could have been picks.

TO prior to half was absolutely the right call.

Dead cat bounce points are points scored in garbage time. Even a dead cat still bounces a little if you drop it. Bad QB decisions (finally getting burned by throwing into double coverage over and over), and bad coaching. Wasn't even close. Rationalizing how we "should have won" and "being in position to win in the 4th quarter" is loser MSU Bobcat talk. Getting the ball with a chance to take the lead is "being in position to win." Not getting 10 points away from even tying the game.

Also, I forgot, Nguyen didn't fumble the ball once. The guys kept fighting. The end.

Hermanson played an absolute shitty game!! I was mocked on here for having problems with guys diving at the legs to tackle. He tried to tackle Kupp at the legs on the punt return and totally whiffed. He was out of position many times today....There were some head scratching play calls for sure, not alot of good calls on first down, but the Griz did come back, and the Defense played incredibly well to help get us back into the game. I place some of the blame on the coach time management and decisions, and there has to be some blame on the officials, but of course the coaches arent out there making 1 handed grabs for td's which EWU had 2 of.

He did look off today. Almost like he was afraid to mix it up. Is it possible he has a bad shoulder or something? I don't get it otherwise.

I agree about Hermy looking like sh*t, just like he did two years ago against EWU. When is the last time you have seen this guy break up a pass play? He is never around the ball, always trying to take an angle tackle some kid running at full speed after catching a wide open pass. I think he is the most over-hyped player on our team.

Folks can try and rationalize the "dead cat bounce" points scored by the Griz, but the game wasn't nearly as close as indicated on the scoreboard.

Only 2 bright spots:

- JJ finally got some time and can show he can still light it up - but he ruined that by quite a few dumb passes.

- Sullivan nailing the 40 yard field goal. Probably the best looking field goal we've had all year.

You are right, the game was actually closer than the scoreboard indicated. 2 bad picks by JJ. Missed 4th down conversion. bad stretch to begin the 3rd quarter. Other than that it was even. Coaching staff even made adjustments by passing the ball. Don't give them credit, I don't care one way or the other. I feel fairly good about the next couple games.

JJ has been throwing into coverage all season, and miraculously has not suffered many picks, just broken up pass plays. I want all of you recall how many wide open receivers EWU had versus how many we had. That is because their O-C knows how the construct a passing game. Kefense does not. Our C-level high school passing scheme is so easy to cover, that our receivers are almost never really open. I'm telling you.... it is the design and lack of creativity from the offensive scheme.

It was the same game as last year. Weren't the Griz down 41-17 last year and 33-10 this year? JJ made both games respectable

Actually...C-Troll, I agree with you on this one. But, don't cry like a troll when you and I know JJ's options are limited. What is he supposed to do? Take a sack and get K.O.'d ? F... No! Throw the ball down field and place the ball where the receiver has an opportunity to make a play. That's why the schollie is provided. Make a f.....g play. Haynes made a play yesterday, but the human facet of the game let us down. Special talents like Henderson can overcome some of the antiquities of the offense, but he isn't available. Insert the next guy, who in general this year has been called upon all too often. That issue is for another thread. True! There is an absurd amount of weaknesses in this offense, and no outlet for JJ while in duress is one of many... :egriz:

EWU controlled that game from start to finish in all aspects of the game. You can make all the coulda, shoulda, woulda excuses but the fact is EWU did it because they have better players. Montana didn't lose this game, they got beat.

What a stupid post! You totally agree with my post, but can't resist the urge to get a shot in. That's weak sh*t, I gotta tell you. What is throwing the troll bullsh*t around mean? If I don't agree with you and your fellow hacks, I am a troll?? Again, is that best you got? Weak sh*t!

Unfortunately this is true. Yesterday's game mirrored last year's game pretty closely. Eastern
gets the big lead because of their quick strike offense. An offense that the Griz D really doesn't match up that well against IMO. The Griz try to dig themselves out of the big hole and
make a comeback but fall short. Too little, too late. The fans complain about the refs and some close plays instead of realizing that when you spot a team like Eastern 20+ points, it's
extremely difficult to come back. There is absolutely no margin for error. Whether it's talent or coaching, Eastern has had the UM's number for a few years now. It's time to admit that and
make some improvements.

I think it's interesting that most of the chatter in this thread is about the offense. The way I look at it, the offense scored 26 points, should be enough to win. The defense gave up four TD passes longer than 30 yards and the special teams gave up a long punt return for a TD.

Seems to me that offense wasn't the problem.

mcg, we had a touchdown called back because of blind refs. The special teams let Cooper run wild for a touch down. We called a time out and let eags score just before half. Our offense is out of touch and old fashioned. Instead of a hurry up sneak run to gather two points after the touchdown we huddle giving eags time to adjust and then we run the frickin ball up the gut for zero gain. That entire play was doomed from the start.

Eagles were held to their lowest points of the year. #5 in the nation. Our D did ok in my opinion.
