I don't quite get the player love and coaches hate. Honestly, I don't think you are underperforming for your talent level. I was at the game and didn't think you had much team speed in offense, and that really keeps you hamstrung. Additionally, your OL is not great.

Defensively, I thought you looked pretty good, but again, there was a bit of a speed problem, Eastern's receivers were both faster and much more physical than the guys covering them.

The coaching staff did a good job keeping the Griz in the game when it looked like the rout was on. They hung tough and played it back to a close game. They pounded the ball early to no success and went spread and air attack pretty much to close out the game when Eastern's best CB went out and presented the mismatch.

As an Eastern fan, I think your coaching staff has done a good job playing against our team for three years in a row... It's been three games that aren't that far from being toss-ups. If anything, I think your challenges are getting the right guys to come to Missoula.

gotgame75, why do you feel sorry for 90-plus Griz football players who absolutely LOVE this coaching staff? Every one of them would run through the gates of hell for this staff, and especially the head coach. Can you say that about every college football team in America right now? Nope. The players don';t blame the coaches one bit. I, like most Griz fans, am bummed to no end about today's game, and this season, as it just hasn't unfolded the way so many thought that it would. But don't feel sorry for the players when it comes to the coaching staff. They abolsutely love those dudes.

You are seriously unreal havgriz. This whole "Delaney can do no wrong" schtick is just plain tired and untrue. I said absolutely nothing about how the players themselves feel. In fact, I would hope that most players on any given team would be willing to "run through the gates of hell" (what a dumb cliche by the way) for their staff or things are definitely amiss in that program. That said, there is a reason the players are not in charge of whether or not a staff stays or goes. They are too close to the situation and too emotionally invested to be objective. We were close in a game where gross clock mismanagement and player disorganization played a role in the outcome. I think that says a lot about the potential and ability of the talent we have in place, but it also says something quite the opposite about this staff. Against a team like Eastern, you simply do not have the luxury of burning unnecessary timeouts and not having your players ready to go in critical scoring situations. These mistakes are on the coaching staff, plain and simple. This is not to say that the loss is entirely on the coaching staff either. But wouldn't it be nice if the players didn't have to overcome silly, easily-correctable mistakes like these? I admire the players' loyalty to "Big Game Mick", but the fact is, if they hope to be on the winning end of games likes these and "play for championships" like we promise them in the recruiting process, their needs to be drastic change. We simply have not been able to win big games against ranked opponents during the entire Delaney era.

Gotgame, I've never once stated that Delaney can do no wrong. I said an a post in another thread last night things like "yes, Delaney has his faults" and "In other games this season, the play-calling has been suspect".

I have also NEVER once posted that I wouldn't welcome a coaching change. I HAVE however, argued that a select few posters, who HAVE posted that Delaney should have been fired at the end of the 2013 season are completely INSANE, and I will stand by that.

Also, in my OPINION, there are a few (very few) posters who have wished for, and tried to fabricate a division between the roster and this coaching staff, in particular Jordan Johnson. And as long as that type of rhetoric continues to exist on Egriz, I will continue to refute it.

I have ZERO problem, ZERO with fans wanting a coaching change. It's a free country to want and wish for anything you like. It's well within your right as a human being and an American to wish the University of Montana would make a coaching change with its football program. The only thing I have maintained, and argued is against a select few posters who have tried to fabricate things about current players as the REASON for said coaching change. And in my view, there's nothing wrong with that.

The timeouts and player disorganization had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. Multiple other plays did. Why focus on things that were not important in the game, and didn't impact the outcome. And I can't imagine you know what was behind the timeouts and player disorganization. Those things are often not the problem of coaches, in my experience. Are individual player goof ups in my experience.

Nice spin job, blaming the players. I think you are missing your calling in being Barrack's press secretary.

your vision must be enhanced by those lovely maroon colored glasses...
I totally have a vision problem.....I just don't see us losing to SUU or Bob'scat.

that still does not guarantee the Griz get into the playoffs
7 division 1 wins with that schedule.....yeah they will be in.

Interesting thought. Last year, only 5 teams made the playoffs with 7 or less D1 wins. Three of those five were auto bids.

And none of those 3 teams had Montana's credentials, assuming the Griz win their next two.

And how many teams with MORE than 7 D-I wins were passed up for those two (presumably) at-large selections with just 7?
