4 Candidates Emerging

Remember that time JD Quinn got busted for Drunken Driving for the third time? He racked up drunken driving charges in three different states. The third one in Montana. Bobby refused to talk about it. And later when it looked like DUI 3--one shy of a felony--might cost JD a couple quarters playing time in a cupcake game Bobby Hauck refused to talk about that too.
Now that UM's past is behind it, I'm sure there's no reason not to bring back Bobby Hauck.

Kent has flown to see candidates and others. That's a fact.

And players DEFINITELY missed playing time under BH. The Tru and Swink thing, they were suspended for the first game of the next season, yeah, yeah, DII, but Bobby didn't make the schedule. They were suspended AFTER NO CRIMINAL CHARGES were filed, and NO student code of conduct violations were handed out. AND AFTER the boy's father personally called Hauck and asked him NOT to punish the players.

Yes, Hauck had player arrests. And I didn't like ANY of that during that time, and as I said before, it is ultimately on the head coach for those arrests. HOWEVER, players were arrested under both Don Read, Joe Glenn and Robin Pflugrad as well, and those three coaches are revered by the fan base. Beau Baldwin has also had more than one player arrested during his time at EWU. SO??????????

you would be hard pressed to find any coach that has never had a player arrested...

Out of those four Fritz listed, IF it came down to those four, my BEST GUESS, would be in order of who would absolutely take the job if offered....

4. Baldwin: I think Kent is ALOT more interested in him than he is in the Griz. No doubt he's intrigued, but I just don't see him leaving VA in his senior season.
Why? Are they having some kind of affair?

I'd love to hear that conversation with the wife:
"Baby, I'd love to double my salary, move you to a nicer house in a better town with better, well, everything. But I gotta stay for VA."
Because every job decision everyone makes is solely motivated by money
I said that? I think your reading comprehension skills might be lacking. What I said was "VA is going to be a senior" is NOT a good reason. This job won't be open, hopefully, next year and there's no guarantees that anyone else is going to come calling next year. You want to bank your future on waiting for someone's senior year to play out?

Too bad Lubick isn't in the story. Baldwin? I don't get it. I just wanna see the Griz beat his ass, not bring him on board.

Would Haslam have to get "permission" to speak with a current coach on another team ie; Pease or Baldwin?

So he either talked on phone or went to see them.....hmmmm maybe going to see them is actually walking down the hall to talk to Ty. Doubt he flew anywhere in last couple weeks with home games occurring

Not sure why Kent couldn't fly somewhere during the week and fly back that day or the next morning?? Hes not a member of the coaching staff I'm sure they would get along just fine with him gone for a day or so.

And maybe he took a 2 hour car ride also.

3 hours in this weather...that pass is nasty.

Hrmmmm.....Guess I hadn't thought about that. EWU fans always talk about Adams bailing for the NFL so this will have them really worked up. My GUESS is if Baldwin is talking to us he is just as serious about using (the interest) go get the attention of FBS as he is in the job here. Who knows?

lol. Nice try stretch. I've never once seen a post on any board where an EWU fan thinks Vernon is going to the NFL. Nice hopeful optimism there

George O'Leary during his time at Notre Dame....????

Remember that time Greg Colman got busted for aggravated burglary, aggravated kidnapping and conspiracy to commit robbery? Greg was a beast on the field--you know, where things really matter when it comes to hiring a coach? But Colman was a bigger beast off the field.
Bobby Hauck found Colman after the bruiser was kicked off the team at Iowa State because he floored a cop while fleeing arrest.
Bobby Hauck knew all about it, but there was one thing Colman wasn't. He wasn't one of those "lower qualifiers" like PlayerRep says pump up the program at EWU.
when the cops came for Colman, they met the Griz team bus as it returned to the Adams Center after the Idaho State game. Bobby Hauck, his assistants and the traveling team got a front seat to the whole thing. It was almost like the cops were sending a message they didn't want the Griz to miss.
Bobby Hauck must have got that message loud and clear if the Griz job is his for the taking.

I would think Peterson would allow Brent to speak to Haslam. Not so sure about EWU.

If he makes it to the next level maybe he can afford to buy that ever elusive eye black sticker for the right side! What a great success story it could be. I see a Lifetime movie in the making!

Exactly. I really doubt there's been any conversation in that regard.

The AD doesn't speak directly with the coach, he talks to the person that represents the coach...it allows for deniability and lets the AD know if there is actually interest before they ask for permission.

Holy smokes, I would hope so. VA is an awesome player at this level, but athletically he can't touch A. Edwards. So he'll have to make it as a QB. I think he may get a chance as a camp arm, he'll have to get stronger to stick.
