4 Candidates Emerging

"4. Baldwin: I think Kent is ALOT more interested in him than he is in the Griz. No doubt he's intrigued, but I just don't see him leaving VA in his senior season."

Hrmmmm.....Guess I hadn't thought about that. EWU fans always talk about Adams bailing for the NFL so this will have them really worked up. My GUESS is if Baldwin is talking to us he is just as serious about using (the interest) go get the attention of FBS as he is in the job here. Who knows?
Adams will meet the same fate as his buddy Kaufman if he leaves for the NFL after this season. You can bet the farm on that one.

If, (and that is a big if) BH is interested in the job - then what is the probability Ty is retained as DC? I see this as a likely scenario. I don't think the U of M will break with the tradition of hiring from within. Ty will likely be the next HC if BH is not. BH would be a fool to pass it up. Simply a fool.

Oh I would agree but EWU fans wouldn't. When he was injured they had mentioned it was good that it would delay his being drafted.

So he either talked on phone or went to see them.....hmmmm maybe going to see them is actually walking down the hall to talk to Ty. Doubt he flew anywhere in last couple weeks with home games occurring

What is Adams' upside to play another year? Like Kaufmann, he is a fringe NFL prospect. That isn't a knock, virtually every BSC player, Griz included are that way. His skill set seems pretty close to Armanti Edwards. So I don't see the upside from a football only perspective for him to risk another year as he would probably not improve his pro prospects any from what they are now.

Remember when Andrew Swank and Tremaine Johnson were investigated for assaulting fellow student Grady McCarthy? And Bobby tried to cover it up by refusing to talk about it? Then he shouted down some kid reporter from the Montana Kiamin? It all turned into a self inflicted wound for UM as ESPN and then Sports Illustrated ripped Bobby for being a big douche bag? Who wouldn't want more of that?

Out of those four Fritz listed, IF it came down to those four, my BEST GUESS, would be in order of who would absolutely take the job if offered....

4. Baldwin: I think Kent is ALOT more interested in him than he is in the Griz. No doubt he's intrigued, but I just don't see him leaving VA in his senior season.
Why? Are they having some kind of affair?

I'd love to hear that conversation with the wife:
"Baby, I'd love to double my salary, move you to a nicer house in a better town with better, well, everything. But I gotta stay for VA."

Not sure why Kent couldn't fly somewhere during the week and fly back that day or the next morning?? Hes not a member of the coaching staff I'm sure they would get along just fine with him gone for a day or so.

And maybe he took a 2 hour car ride also.

Two hours to... Helena? I sure as hell hope not.

A few random thoughts:

1) The job isn't Bobby's to lose just because posters on egriz think so. It is overlooking a lot of other factors to think it is just that simple. For all any of us know, Haslam and/or Engstrom could have no interest. Fair or not, Engstrom and some of the regents perceived there to be serious issues with the program when they fired Pflu and O'Day. Bobby wasn't too far removed from that.

2) I have no idea who Fritz's sources are, but it seems possible that the sources are connected to the candidates and not the tight lipped process. Even those closest to the search don't seem to know everything, Haslam is running the show on this.

3) Many on this board really gloss over some of the issues Hauck had here. Whether he can control it or not, there were numerous player arrests. The whole thing with the Kaimin was really immature and he was called out by writers at SI and ESPN for it. I know many on this board did and will jump all over me for saying that, but it is true. Whatever his discipline system was, I know running the M was involved, there was a perception with many in the community that there were no consequences because players rarely, if ever, seemed to miss any playing time. Whether some of you want to admit it or not, perception in the community absolutely matters in college football, especially in small college towns.

Would Bobby be fun to have back? Sure, I'd go to the games. His teams were fun to watch and they had an edge to them. I will continue to go no matter who we hire. I am intrigued by other options as well. I don't have a huge problem with Bobby, just the inevitability and the revisionist history by some bothers me.

When Bohl first went to Wyoming they tracked the plane to see where it landed, no bullshit. And that was the head coach in the middle of the playoffs.

I doubt anybody would miss Kent for a day or so.

I once flew to Kuwait on one plane changed a part on another plane and flew back on said plane. Took 2 days. Not sure where Haslams flying too to find a coach, but hopefully it's not farther than Kuwait? If so, we are in serious, serious trouble.

Because every job decision everyone makes is solely motivated by money
