Griz always seemed to have that happen to them in NC games. In '96 it was Moss. Richmond in '08 it was Lawrence Sidbury (DE). in '09 it was Villanova's Matt Szczur. Always seemed like there was that ONE guy that we just didn't have an answer for.

It goes that way sometimes....

Hopefully the Missoula bars have an answer for the NDSU alcoholics that show up next year. Probably won't win the game , but not sure the bars will have an answer for some of us that show up.

Glad to see you're already preparing to lose the game next year to the Griz. :thumb:

My expectations are not the highest next year. I would be happy with an 8-4 record.

Washington Grizzly stadium is a tough place to play. I have pretty high expectations though of catching a lot of fish that week and drinking one, two, or two hundred Moose Drools on tap and having a great time.

Well, Grizland would be happy to oblige on both counts.

Funny, I just read this old article about Moss earlier today so thought I'd post the link if any of you would like to read it. Yeah, if Notre Dame or Florida St. would have kept Moss the Griz would have defeated Marshall for the title.

Hey guys. Just thought I would let you know the new 30 for 30 ESPN did on Randy Moss, highlighted a bit on Marahall and UM. They talked about how much he hated Montana.

Kind of neat to see some vintage FCS footage on those games back in the 90's. He was a true man amongst boys.

Interesting that he hated Montana. He only played against the Griz once, in the chipper.

He should have loved them, that one game probably inflated his draft status substantially.

Bring your rod for sure, 2011, but leave your wallet at home. You won't need to buy a beer all weekend.

Should be a fun time. I think I am pulling the camper up on Friday, the week before the game, and staying at the KOA in Missoula. I have a date with the Big Blackfoot that week and planning on hitting the town starting Friday night.

Stop by some night for some homebrew and smoked pheasant.

I'm not sure the Griz game had an effect on Moss' draft status. He played for Marshall again in 1997, their first year as an FBS team. He won the FB Award as the top WR in the country that season, and he was in NYC for the Heisman Ceremony. And yet, he fell to the Vikes at the 21st spot. That was another kind of ironic and funny part of the documentary. The Griz had a prominent part in Moss' life as a football player, and later on, he was chilling with Ryan Leaf for a week in New York lol.

I think Pizza Hut Park is the first non-FCS or 1-AA venue to actually ever host the chipper. Before it moved to Dallas, it was always at a venue related to the FCS. It just so happened, Marshall had bid on it for a three-year run, and in that same three years, they were really,

UM bid to host one season. I think it got shot down as being a tad on the chilly side.

The host school at Frisco is Sam Houston, though obviously they don't play regular season games there.
The only truly non school related site was the Tacoma Dome at the very beginning of I-AA.

Anybody know when the deal in Frisco?
Frisco might be on its second contract. The Southland Conference is headquartered there and it really has worked closely with the city to keep it there.

They also just started the process of moving the Dallas Cowboys headquarters to Frisco, the development will encompass hotels as well as an indoor football facility, tho I think it only seats something like 10k people. Still theyre getting better facilities for football in Frisco...just too bad the field is so shitty and the stadium is meant for soccer. Why not just have it at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, that'd be a cool site!

It was painful to watch the 1996 part. That was a rough day for us. I hate reliving Gary Danielson saying "Randy Moss is simply better than any player Montana has". But it was the truth. 9 grabs, 220 yards and four touchdowns, and I don't think anyone ever say Billy Ivey again.

Really good documentary though. I had to learn to love Randy after the Vikes drafted him.

I remember my uncle, who is very good friends with a UM grad, said the 1996 Montana team might have been a top 5 FCS/D1AA team of all time but just happened to play against a man who nobody could stop and single handily beat everyone.

Griz always seemed to have that happen to them in NC games. In '96 it was Moss. Richmond in '08 it was Lawrence Sidbury (DE). in '09 it was Villanova's Matt Szczur. Always seemed like there was that ONE guy that we just didn't have an answer for.

They do. We're called the UM alcoholics.

I'm ashamed and embarrassed that it took so long for someone to post the obvious answer to 2011's inquiry.
