3 Griz Arrested

Yeah, make a statement before all the facts are known and the justice system has a chance to play out! That's the way to go! :thumb:

I swear some of you guys would be happier living in North Korea. Get accused of something, who cares what your side of the story is, what the facts are, or anything silly like that! Off to the labor camp with you!

Exactly! Why bother with this silly notion that people might be wrongfully accused, or there might be more to the story than what the media says... Anyone ever accused and arrested is obviously guilty of everything the cops try to lump on them and should be immediately convicted on the spot!

Sarcasm aside... I sat on a jury years ago where after the trial was over (and the defendant found not guilty VERY quickly) I looked back and saw that our own local media had dragged his name through the mud and made him out to be a total monster. Oddly enough the actual evidence and testimony of witnesses never made it to the Missoulian articles on the defendant... huh.... They just reported one side of the story and that was it. After seeing the actual evidence and hearing the testimony it became very apparent that this person shouldn't have even been arrested, yet they had their live ruined by the accusations, media attention and all the bullshit that brought down on them.

So maybe, just maybe... we should let the justice system play out a little before we all jump on the GUILTY train believing everything that we've heard so far as fact just because it ended up in the Missoulian.

What a bunch of jackasses. How stupid to get caught in a house that being renovated. Must have been a big ass house if the family was in another section of it.. Lucky they didn't get shot!

At this point guilty by the court system does not matter. They have been arrested. The University has their rules, as does the NCAA.

The leash is small for Montana due to previous events.

Simple, embedded a reporter with the group. That's how it's done nowadays.
 
Well, 1) they didn't hurt anybody, 2) they didn't damage anything, 3) they didn't steal anything. They didn't even "break and enter," they just climbed up a ladder that happened to be there, into an unfinished building project. Sounds like they were waiting for their ride -- no DUI's -- and thought they'd take a look.

As the homeowner noted, they probably didn't realize that the renovation project was not freestanding, but attached to an occupied house.

At the worst, this is misdemeanor trespass, on Halloween. When I was a judge, this would have been a 6 month deferred imposition of sentence, and then dismissed. Not to downplay the fact that Griz players have to meet a higher standard, and this was just unbelievably stupid, but there just doesn't appear to have been a criminal purpose here.

From the Kaimin article, I doubt that the homeowner will want to press charges, and in that case there would be no prosecution, but in this case the decision becomes a political one as to whether to charge them or not, because of who they are.

Just some points to ponder.

1. I have been as drunk as anyone can get,yet I have never entered a house that was not my own.

2. I have to really wonder how many of you folks would have not taken offense with 4 men entering your home at that hour with your wife and daughters present? By offense, I mean by putting big, red, holes in the body in the doorway.

3. What "does" make people unable to understand right from wrong, consequences, and the respect for others, (family, team, University, etc.). I find it hard to believe it is a "few brewskis".

Yaw, I'm an old duffer, but I still know what is never OK!

Well, the purpose of the "law" is to punish criminal behavior. If and when stupidity becomes a criminal offense, plenty of people will have to get in line, esp if thinking like a ten year old is the offense.

there is a lot of overlap with stupidity and criminal, just because something is stupidity does no mean that it cant also be criminal.

Good assessment. Trespassing. Apparently overcharged. The wheels of justice grind slowly, unlike the University kangaroo court. But, stupid is what stupid does.
