2026 National Champion Montana Grizzlies

Before we all get way too overconfident, I highly suggest going back and watching some of last year's games. I've been rewatching them and there were times we looked downright awful, and barely won a few close games. I'm not saying we're going to be terrible this year, but this massive amount of optimism might just be a *tiny* little bit misplaced for right now.

Mine's due to the maroon tinted glasses i wear😁.

If I remember correctly, didn't we finished 3rd in the country last year?
you said 'last year'....a lot can happen in a year...players have moved on and
so has the HC....remember Bobby said it's a whole new team every year because
of the portal which is way he moved on ...I think we been fortunate that most of
the key players have apparently stayed in spite of a new HC change..
.last year was last year.. means nothing

Last year means a little more than "nothing".

Enough time has passed that I’ll say this in all seriousness: I kind of felt like we were a paper tiger much of last year. As the season progressed, I started to realize that I was definitely expecting way too much, and the things I thought made us a paper tiger were kind of ubiquitous among good FCS teams. We weren’t, in fact, going to play the Seahawks the next week, so it didn’t matter if “that wouldn't fly against a great defense.” Does that make sense? I think what gave me the perspective is I made a point of watching a few more FCS games than usual.

Don’t believe there is even a remote chance the Griz D is as porous as last year. Nepotism, incompetence, scheme and pure stubbornness created a lot of problems. 2027 defense will be stout by the time the brawl rolls around. BK knows what he is doing and people underrate his coaching prowess. Cue the, “never been a head coach before crowd.” Dunces. They know nothing.
The 2025 D wasn’t porous. It was pretty good.

To judge a team, game and season, you need to look at the whole game and whole season. Cherry picking pieces of games is silly. Barely winning games is much better than barely losing. My god, the Griz were 13-2, losing twice to the eventual national champ and being ranked no. 3.

I think you misunderstand. I wasn't complaining, just trying to be the voice of a bit of reason rather than unbridled optimism. You do you, and I'll do me.

If Ah Yat stays healthy this season we are winning it all.

Feel free to bookmark this post

We are Montana and we will bring home the ring this season. I can feel it on campus, in the weight room, in the football offices and in the state.
We’re in the glorious unknown of the off-season and I'm on my fourth dram of whiskey. I approve this message. 😅

Okay. But I do-me includes responding to posts like yours. I've been trying, for over 25 years, to improve the quality of knowledge on the board (and prior board). It's part of my I-do-me creed.

Well anyone is free to comment on any post. That's how a message board works. I hate to break it to you, but you aren't the sole purveyor of truth or of all knowledge.

I've heard you say several times that if a couple of plays had gone a different way in the Cat/Griz game last year, the Griz would have won. Completely true. But you conveniently ignore the fact that if a couple of plays had gone differently in either the North Dakota game, or the Idaho State game, the Griz would have lost. (And maybe some other games as well but I haven't rewatched them all yet and my memory isn't all that great anymore.)

My point is simply that you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you're going to play the "if only" game, you have to look at it from the other side as well. And the Griz didn't blow out every opponent last year, and had a few games that they were lucky to win.

Hopefully we have a great year. It certainly could happen and I hope that it does, but there are no guarantees. Personally, I don't like setting myself up for disappointment. I'd rather have low expectations and have them be surpassed rather than be expecting a natty every year and be continually disappointed.

I have never considered being the "sole" purveyor of truth, nor even being a purveyor of truth. You are overly-sensitive. I knew you wouldn't get my joke.

I was talking about the Griz games against the Cats, not other games. When I talk about 2 games, I'm not obligated to talk about other games. Can you not stick to the subject? And I wouldn't ever say that the Griz were just terrible at times, like you did. That is football. Every play doesn't work. I undertand the game of football. You don't.

A play or two going the other way, is not the same as a team, like the Griz, looking terrible at times. Do you truly not even understand that? My god, don't post like you know what is going on, if you don't. You have to temper your expectations so that you won't be disappointed? Huh? You are a fan. Are you so caught up in how the Griz play, that you can't take a loss or a disappointment? Man, I am not like that at all.

No, I don't: "If you're going to play the "if only" game, you have to look at it from the other side as well." I don't have look at anything other than what I want to look at. You are, of course, welcome to say what you want, but I no longer feel that I have to baby and support you like I did for many years. I assume you know the term, for players of sports: "Play within yourself."

I'm happy to continue the discussion.

I was on a flight to AZ with a few Griz Oline guys this week. There's no doubt they're all in for BK.
I've been around about 15 guys in recent times, and even asked about BK a few times, and have not heard anything other than what you said. It's clear that he's a great guy and very likable. I think he's probably a very good coach. But I suppose that remains to be seen.

He's done a great job with fans, the press, QB Club, etc. Truly great. Not as good as Bobby, but close. For those of you who don't understand me, that's a joke.
