2026 Griz Regular Season Predictions

Lower, much lower
Not likely to be too much lower.
Last year UC Davis got the eight seed with an 8-3 record. But I think they got a game called off due to weather and they likely got the benefit of the doubt from that. Abilene Christian got the 10 seed with an 8-4 record.

Who the losses were to and by how much etc would have to come into play.

In a 4 loss scenario, 3 of those losses will likely be against an FBS team and 2 teams ranked around or ahead of UM. Griz get prestige points.

More likely scenario: Griz finish 10-2 while getting some "griz magic" and pulling 2-3 games away from the jaws of defeat...

Agreed, im pretty sure they got the nod in the Mercer game that was cancelled. At mercer and uc davis had a 24-17 lead with 7+ to play. To mercer's credit though, the lead was bigger and they were climbing back in it.

Dang. Usually I am the Negative Nellie.

My rationale for the Brawl of the Brawl this year: First we have a new coach. Vigen doesn't know what to expect, so they will game plan based on previous years under Hauck.

They might take some of the offensive plays into consideration because of the OC remaining stable, and knowing that the playbook isn't going to change that much offensively.

I don't think they are going to exect Pease to open up the offense like I think he is going to now that Hauck is gone. I think Hauck held him back, a lot. You can see the creativity and success last year, but Hauck was always true to run, run, run/pass, punt. I think we are going to see some crazy fun things coming from the offense this year.

With that said, Vigen and company will game plan for the "Griz offense as usual".

I think the Griz are going to come out throwing lightening and thunder this year.

I think that the Puds will consider the switch to the 4-2/3, but will think they are going to run roughshod over the Grizzly defense. I don't see that happening.

Then there is the attitude. Sure the Puds will have the "we're the champs" attitude, but I think that's more of a hinderance, psychologically than a help. I think the talent that is being brought in is outstanding. I see the transfers stepping up and contributing immediately.

I am probably wrong, but I think it's UM's year. I have a gut feeling, and my gut is rarely wrong.

I like the optimism, but one correction. Pease is the OC, not Phenecie. Unless you meant that for that one game only BK is going to put Phenecie in as the OC, which would definitely be a surprise but not necessarily a good one.

This might be logical if MSU was playing UM in week 1, but they’ll have essentially an entire season of film on UM under BK. They won’t be flying blind thinking Hauck is still there.

Yeah... for some reason I forgot about that. I was wrapped up writing my top 15 rebuttal to Herders article.

I apologize. I was wrapped up writing a rebuttal to Herder's top 15 article. You're correct. It's Pease not Phencie. I knew that. My fingers didn't write it though.

I think 9-3. Losses to Oregon State, UC Davis and in Bozeman. I'd like to see that turn around or at the very least, not get boat-raced. None of the games have been close in Bozeman the last handful of years. The last HC to win in Bozeman was Bob Stitt. I'd like to see that updated. 😆
I don't think you lose to Davis. The QB from last year left. He was dynamic. I think you roll them.
