2026 Griz Football Predictions

Atleast the playing surface at Nottingham Field is better than it used to be. Back when the Griz played there in 2016 there was patchy natural grass. There were visible bare spots between the hashes and in the red zones. You had to love it for a D1 stadium. The turf is a major upgrade. As far as I know there have been no other sizable improvements in their facilities since 2016.

2018 - 4-4 (6-5) - Loss to Cats in Msla (29-25) and no playoff
2020 - Covid
2022 - 4-4 (8-5) - Loss to Cats in Bzmn (55-21) and loss to NDSU in 2nd round
2024 - 5-3 (9-5) - Loss to Cats in Bzmn (35-11) and loss to SDSU in 2nd round

For the 2026 Griz, I think an 8-5 overall record with 4-4 in conference and a loss to the Cats in Bozeman with a loss in the 2nd round would be considered a success. If it was good enough for Bobby after recovering from the Bob Stitt years, it should be good enough for BK.

Thank god Hauck has finally left and we are done with the same old failure to reach expectations tenure of his.

All I ask this year is for my Griz to be better than 6-6, I can finally enjoy football in Montana again. So even though most of you do not know anything about football what are your expectations and predictions?

6-6 is your floor for the team? TV will show lots of aluminum in the stands. Season ticket sales will free fall. But, look at the bright side, ticket prices will drop. Monte will have to be replaced by some old retired guy who walks with a limp, and therefore, the Harley will have to be a three wheeler. The team will be considered 'loosers'(your term). I've lived through the lean years, and it wasn't much fun.

2012 the Griz were 5-6 and were still second in the FCS in attendance to now FBS App State.

If they go back to D2 they would have a home in the RMAC and be competing for championships immediately but that would take vision which UNC leadership has lacked.

Its very hard for some to admit when they're wrong. There's mountains of evidence of that on eGriz.

That’s true but those some shouldn’t be in positions of leadership for big universities which it appears has been the case at UNC the past decade or so. The program was actually turning a corner 2016-2019 but they flushed it all down the toilet with their coaching hire after the 2019 season.

I think the vision is fine, FCS > D2.

2021 the Griz were 10-3 (6-2) in conference
2023 the Griz were 13-2 (7-1) in conference, beat the Cats, and went to the National Championship

If you won't accept 2022 as the floor, then the Griz's 2024 results are the floor to judge whether BK is successful.

I prefer the bison short rib at Pompey's Grill @ The Sacagawea Hotel-don't think Lewis and Clark ate any Italian meat loaf in Three Forks but sounds like they munched on some good Montana buffalo. You and O-4-Life should try some : ) !!!
