2026 Griz Football Predictions

What you are failing to understand is that beating MDSU one week and losing to Cal Poly the next week would be considered a major success at UNC. Their program has different goals and aspirations than Montana. Stitt’s non conventional offense is harder to game plan against which leads to big wins when it works but bad losses when it doesn’t.
I fully understand that, but you are failing to understand you're talking about doing that with the talent from UM, which Stitt inherited. He could not have done that with the talent he had brought in year 2 and 3. If his offense was so hard to figure out, why is it that he went 8-8 in the BSC those last two years?

Again, if you want to call him a genius, have at it. I will call him an idiot who I didn't want in the first place and if it were up to me, he would have been finding his own ride home from Bozeman after his last game and not waiting until Monday to let him step aside.

The guy UNC hired instead had his son with no coaching experience running a high school offense. I didn’t say Stitt is a genius but his offense has proven to be significantly better than that.

Anyone banging the drum for Stitt to be a FCS head coach or singing him praises is proving that they have no impactful thoughts or insight that should be considered serious by others.
He is not going to be an FCS head coach because he wouldn’t accept an FCS head coaching position from any school in the country at this point.

Bob Stitt is a good D2 football coach. Let's leave it at that.
I’ll leave it at this, UNC’s departing president is an idiot when it comes to running a football program and although he is leaving in August, he is leaving the program in a deep hole from his tenure.

He would never have beaten NDSU at UNC which is what you are failing to understand.

The 2 coaches before Stitt at Mines records were 84-157-6 which was good enough for this coach to have the stadium named after him and 11-41 who was the coach prior to Stitt’s arrival. Stitt’s record 110-62. He has taken over a similarly moribund program in Colorado and turned them around to being in the playoff hunt every season. He would have had similar success at UNC. Not winning championships or even the conference but they would have won more games and been more competitive throughout the season. This is notwithstanding how bad Ed Mccaffrey was even though he has the best win loss record. You didn’t like scoring 54 points on the Cats in Bozeman? You didn’t like beating a future Super Bowl MVP 57-16 either?
I didn't like missing the playoffs 2 of 3 years and getting embarrassed by NDSU in the other.

The post I was responding to was MontanaBob saying UNC is going to beat the Griz for homecoming which there is no chance because UNC football has been run so poorly from administrators for almost a decade. Hiring Mccaffrey over Stitt being the most egregious in my opinion of many blunders related to their football program.

So hiring one poor coach over another is the hill you want to die on?

2 bad coaching hires, one being historically bad, arguably the worst facilities, assistant coach pay and NIL in the conference and no effort to attract fans particularly among the student body has left UNC in a place where they have no chance against this Montana team in WaGriz.

Worst facilities isn't even an argument. I've been to several Griz games in Greeley and the "stadium" is horrible. Walked up to ticket sales 20 minutes before the game and got tickets on the 50 for $15 each. They struggled to get 4000 to the games, half of which were Griz fans. The redeeming feature is beer sales. The stands are so flat and far away from the field that you can't see over the players around the bench. Barely worth the $15.

UNC and PSU make no attempt to have representative BSC facilities; both belong in DII.

The only argument is whether UNC or PSU has the worst facilities. One is not definitively better or worse than the other.

My vote for worst would have to go to UNC.

The City of Portland put PSU out of their stadium and so they have had to make due on a high school facility. Maybe there is more in the background that I am not aware of, but I have a sister that has lived in Portland since before the Blazers won back in '77 and that was how she described it.

UNC, on the other hand, has their own on campus site and they could do more to upgrade if they gave a damn. They brand that thing ALWAYS as "historic Nottingham Field," like it is some kind of national landmark. I don't what the history is behind it, but the pictures I have seen don't compel me to find a way to get to a game in Greeley.

Kem said the beer is the only redeeming thing, but if the line of sight isn't there, there isn't enough beer in Colorado to make it worth the price of admission.

Hopefully a new president improves the UNC situation. A lot of the problems with the football program come back to him and he is leaving in August.
