Moving on with the Big Sky predictions and we’re on to Cal Poly. They welcome in new head coach Tim Skipper who I really like and I think is a great fit for them! I think Poly has a chance to be sneaky this year. Let’s dive in!
August 28 - vs. Idaho - L. Friday night on ESPN. The first college football game in the entire will be in SLO. This should be a great game too between two evenly matched teams. I lean Idaho for now but I won’t be surprised if Poly wins.
September 5 vs. Central Washington - W. Nice to have 2 home games and an extra day of rest to open the season. Chris Fisk is gone from CWU and Poly should roll in this one.
September 12 @ San Jose State - L. First road game of the year is a short bus trip up to the Bay Area. I don’t expect the Spartans to be very good this year but Poly has really struggled in FBS games over the years. I think it could be close but I expect the Spartans to win.
September 19 vs. San Diego - W. Usually Poly ends up going to them but they get them at home this time. I don’t expect much from the Toreros this year and Poly should win comfortably.
September 26 @ Eastern Washington - L. This one’s tough. Eastern has not been good but I really Jake Schakel at QB. Close game but I’ll take Eastern at home.
October 3 @ Weber State - W. I don’t think Weber is gonna be worth a shit this year. Poly wins easily at home.
October 10 @ Idaho State - L. Normally a game I would expect Poly to win, but I’m drinking the Cody Hawkins kool aid this year. Bengals win easily at home.
October 17 @ Northern Colorado - W. UNC was tricky last year but I see them regressing this year. Poly gets the road dub.
October 24 vs. Utah Tech - W. The Trailblazers should be the punching bag of the Big Sky this year so it will be a second straight win for the Stangs.
October 31 @ Montana State - L. Their toughest test of the year. Late October so a chance the weather won’t be great. Cats roll at home.
November 7 vs. Northern Arizona - W. The Jacks graduated a lot. They do have Ty Pennington back at QB but beyond that not much. This game could go either way but I’ll believe in Poly for this one.
November 14 BYE. Wow that’s a late bye.
November 21 @ UC Davis - L. Maybe I could be convinced to pick a win if it was in SLO but they have no shot on the road.
———————————
I got Cal Poly going 6-6. They beat all the teams they’re supposed to but struggle against the teams ahead of them. If they go 6-6 then I think Tim Skipper should be happy about that result. That’s my prediction! Thoughts???
