2023 cats Regular Season Predictions

ABQCat said:
"the Griz will beat you in Missoula" - I doubt it. Hard to say for certain how the injury bug plays out, but the Cats have a proven winning formula to beat the gris. Missoula has certainly lost its luster over the years as a tough place to win. Many average - good teams come in there and win. You got lucky in 2021 that our best QB already had one foot out the door. I fully expect a game similar to 2022 and 2019.

Lol. Many many average, good and VERY good teams come in there and lose. Griz are 15-1 in ‘19, 20/21 and ‘22.
In ‘18 they were 3-3, and 22-4 the 4 years before that. So no, many many average - good teams do NOT “come in there and win”. Outside of Bobby’s first year back they are 37-5 at home since 2014.

I don't know man. I watch games there every now and again. It ain't the same. Hell the Cats have taken 2 of 3 lately and the two wins were with average teams. Last year Idaho won with a good (not great) team. 2018 wasn't good at all. Losing to PSU on homecoming has no explanation. That same year it took a miracle to beat Southern Utah 20-19. Like I said. Not the same over there.

Idahoe won because our QB was on IV trying to recover from an illness. And miracle or not, a win is a win. You said “many average teams come in there and win”. It’s just objectively NOT true.

We beat Southern Utah 57-14 that year. Maybe you haven't been paying as much attention as you seem to think.

Easy to get confused with the number of bad games in Missoula I suppose. Yes 2021 was the miracle win against SUU. Two weeks after SAC beat you at home. In 2019 was when UCD took you to the woodshed. My bad.

We beat UC Davis 45-20 in Davis in 2019.

As AZ has pointed out, we're 15-1 at home since 2019.

You're still pretty bad at this whole trolling business, but A for effort, I guess.

I’d give it ‘C’ at best. The “try hard” is there, but the intellect and delivery are lacking. The former is likely the cause of the latter, but we shouldn’t give up on him as a cat troll just yet. Not having one’s facts straight before popping off, and then getting schooled is part of the troll-growing process.

Hmmm, sneaking by a very poor 3-8 EWU team 38-35 wasn't a miracle. Got it.

What an idiot ABQ is.

Yea, I really misjudged that and made the mistake of thinking he could act like a normal person having a football discussion.

Ya I don't pretend to know the makeup of those teams; I just know that all five teams we play on the road are in the top 20 of the preseason rankings. On paper it's going to be brutal on the road and we should have a great idea if we're for real or not when we travel to Missoula

Well, I'm looking forward to it. I think we will have some surprises for you at Wa-Griz that will make it a lot harder to run like you did last year.

I appreciate your reasonable conversation, so don't take this the wrong way, but do you think the DUI trials will hurt your team? Is there any conversation around what happens if Garza is convicted next week?
I haven't heard anything about it honestly. But I don't see how it could NOT be a distraction as we get closer to camp.

Nothing I can say that hasn't been said 1000 times already both here and on BN. But it's a terrible look and frustrating for me as we are playing at such a high level the last few seasons. It's annoying enough when it's a player that does dumb stuff that hurts the team. It's a whole other thing when it's members of the coaching staff.

Bringing Garza on board was a risk to begin with considering his past. I'm not against giving guys another chance, but in my opinion he fucked it up. If I was making the decisions I would have cut ties immediately. I understand the whole innocent until proven guilty, but the fact it happened at all, going into the playoffs, distracting the team, would of been enough for me to be done with him. And then signing him to an extension with a small raise might have been the worst look of all. It's like they were TRYING to look bad with that move.

Then to be dealing with the same shit with our OC and yet another coach in the mix is just asinine to me. I hate that this team has the makings of winning the whole damn thing and our players have stupid coach decisions hanging over them.

Obviously I'm not in the locker room so I don't know how everyone is navigating this internally. But common sense says it has to be at least a little bit of a distraction. I'd hope it all gets settled one way or another before the season starts. But personally I'd be totally fine if we started the season with both a new DC as well as a new OC.

Once again Cat coaches have home field advantage. Rumor is new CA had never tried a criminal prosecution to verdict prior to election. Many experienced prosecutors left her office. I see sweetheart deals ala Hunter Biden coming down the pike.

That is all really reasonable. Part of me finds it odd that people aren't hearing anything about it, but I guess it is in the obvious interests of the team to just not talk about it if they want to keep the coaches around.

I agree with all of your points, and I have never been the one screaming for them to be fired immediately, but especially with Garza it seemed like a really obvious move to at LEAST suspend him and say he will be attending rehab. Even if it's just for public relations, that would be the move.

I will be interested to see if they case does go to trial here soon. Any delay would put that during the season and make it really hard to replace him. I've heard rumors that there is some big name person who is volunteering as a coach but not being talked about, so maybe you guys already have the replacement lined up. I don't know that Housewright deserves all the credit for your offensive production, so that side should be able to withstand a change, but it does seem to me like the defense could really use a good teacher/coach this season with having lost a lot of the leadership over the last two years.

It certainly won't be a boring start to the season for either team!

The hail mary against NAU saved their asses too

This is my favorite part. I love how it’s being drug out so long and it came back to bite them.

The underlying incident(s) were bad enough, but I love how MSdUi is fumbling them even more so.

I love rubbing their nose in this poor decision, which should have been so simple and obvious.

Instead of doing the right thing, bubs chose the win-at-all-costs route. A 3.5 hour suspension. Whoopiddy-doo.

Now MSdUi set a precedent with some unwritten “policy” to let the legal system play out while the contract expires and the bum gets a raise. Wait, what the what? Can’t make this up!!

The next event escalated, and they were stuck with all 3 dopes now!! Hahahahahahaha

What happens if there is another event, or god forbid another escalation, by any MSdUi coach?

Didn’t we beat the eags by 56 last year? A team you squeaked it out on the road against by 3 with the ugliest fumble call we may have ever seen? This six degrees of Kevin Bacon shit is as stupid as it gets.
