No doubt it’s huge. Problem is, the easier schedule can mask a lot of issues and give a false sense of security. It may result in a better record, a seed, and a DEEPER playoff run, but with a less talented team, potentially.

What you describe above may be true because the higher seed = coveted home field games and possible deep run.

On the other hand, it might expose a team with "less talent" in the same round last year's team was bounced.

The insulation provided by the weaker schedule may simply unravel...
