2016 Schedule-one more opponent?

"Northwestern State University (FCS – LA): Northwestern State is seeking an opponent for the 2016 season. Available dates are either October 1st or 8th. Please contact Daryl Daye ([email protected]) to discuss."

I think UM should look at trying to do a home game with these guy's, even if it costs some money to get them up here (more than the going rate). Inquire about just a one time game in Missoula without a return trip. Come on Missoula businesses, help make this game happen. :thumb:

Cal Davis is bringing in an NAIA school next season in Southern Oregon University (NAIA Runner up this year) and Northern Colorado is bringing in NAIA Rocky Mountain College from Billings of the Frontier Conference.

I really hope the Griz do not have to go the Division II or NAIA route.

They too may be looking for a home game or would likely insist on a home and home to come to Missoula, but I'd still vote for it.

Not sure what Division II school's Montana may be looking at but there is a school in Tennessee (Division II) who want to travel and play a money game with an FCS school on September 17th, next fall. Lane College. Again, I prefer no Division II/NAIA games, but it is a no-brainer to get another home game.

My question is this... If we have to play a non-Division I FCS type game, does the team we play really matter to fans? Do Montana fans care all that much, other than seeing a home game? Would it be better to just pay an NAIA Frontier regional school then playing a Division II team from Oklahoma or Tennessee?

I would have liked to see a game against Carroll was very good, and some people were spouting off about how Carroll could beat the Griz.

I'm hearing we may have an FCS filler for 10/8; if so, major kudos to Haslam in this environment. So the bye would be early, 9/17.

Good God I hope that is so....

This would be great, great, news! Huge props to Haslam and staff if this ends up being true. Can't wait until they announce the finalized schedule. Thanks for the info kemajic.     :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

That is great news, however that is a long stretch of football to play without a break. 10/8, is about a perfect time to take a break to both heal up and to get grades up before a playoff push.

The only missing date that needs to be filled is the 17th of September other than that we only have 10 games so far. Pretty sure we could find another d1 team at the FCS or FBS level to fill the slot, would rather avoid a pointless d2 game.

Unless you're Montana State then you go for that game!

Honestly, I'd rather have THIS issue put to bed than who's going to be the DC.

Looks like both issues are done :thumb:

Mississippi Valley State to visit Missoula on October 8th.
