"It looked like we've been practicing for ten days. The kids have done a good job this summer, and these new guys have really, really worked on what we're doing."-Stitt
Favorite targets of all three QBs included returners James Homan, Jerry Louie-McGee, Josh Horner and Kobey Eaton.
Some new faces introduced themselves to the QBs nicely as well. Nebraska transfer receiver Lane Hovey looked very much like the heir apparent to Ben Roberts, tracking deep balls with ease, and true freshman Samori Toure made a couple of spectacular grabs.
With a young unit that boasts a potential starting lineup of FBS talent in the secondary, and the preseason Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year in the D-Line, Semore spent the first practice drilling on fundamentals and playing between the ears as well as between the sidelines.
"The thing that we're focusing on more is the intellectual side of the game and taking the ball away. That's our mission in terms of trying to help the offense. That's really what we're focusing on daily," added Semore.
Play of the day-
During the seven-on-seven session at the end of practice, Brady Gustafson found "Z" receiver Caleb Lyons streaking down the middle of the field on a post route. Though only standing 5-9, Lyons made a spectacular leaping grab, having to rotate mid-air and catch the ball behind his body for a 40-plus yard strike.
