2015 Griz Football Recruiting- 4 Transfers/ 17 Verbals/ 4 WO's

Hoestly this years recruits (H.S. kidwise) will likely have very little effect on the team this year......it is more of the next few years they will play key roles

Nah Uhh... Five or more of these kids will see significant playing time and not just due to being thin in spots, injuries or the new system. It's because they're great talents and will earn playing time. Oh wait, I forgot. Everyone needs to redshirt sound here. Never mind.

Just wondering, were all of the previous O-line commits recruited by Gragg? If so, it should explain their decommits. Recruiting in large part is about relationships, kids want to play for someone they trust or think they trust. We want to believe a person goes to a school because of the school but it is in large part about the coaching staff. Facilities? Game day environment? I think those things only matter to a recruit if there are two or three situations where the staffs seem equal. Academic program? That probably only matters to kids who are more mature and have definite career goals. Most HS age kids have no clue what they want to be or do. Golly, I know people in their 50's that still don't know.
There are consequences to coaching changes when it comes to recruiting. Michigan State lost a couple of defensive commits when Narduzzi left for Pitt. When Hoke was fired at Michigan, the commits jumped ship in droves. At one point they were down to six commits. Does Michigan have academics, game day environment, facilities? In spades.
Long winded I know, but give this staff a couple of recruiting cycles to establish relationships and we will see less flipping at the end. Give Germer a year to identify OL prospects and develop a relationship. Many of you had concerns about Stitt being able to recruit. I think that is slowly being answered in a definite yes. His gets in Montana are impressive.

My point is that most of these kids will not see significant time (other than the exceptional) due to the fact that we have quite a few kids that are already here, a little more seasoned physically and will go though spring ball thus should be ready to step in for graduating seniors now given the chance.....I think we have some on the roster who will surprise many now given the shot (look at how the LB's this year filled in for Coyle,Tripp, JP)

As for losing and gaining recruits, this year is no different than others. It happens to every program in the nation. What makes it harder and more disappointing this year? To me, it is how highly rated/regarded the lost recruits are nationally. Granted the rating system is not an exact science. Some higher rated recruits will fall. Some lower rated or not rated recruits will be pleasant surprises.

Also, these losses seem a little more significant being they are all areas of needs to fill out the GRIZ depth chart. Like it or not, accept it or not, fact is these recruits were likely expected to contribute this season, especially at DT. I am not as worried about OL, being our young OL went through much of their growing pains last season. They actually were a pretty solid group by the end of the season. I also feel Stitt's offense will lessen the pressure of OL having to sustain blocks for too long. Stitt's passing game consists of usually quick pass plays. It does not overly rely on long passes that allows for more QB pressure.

I don't take GRIZ fans on egriz panicking about the lost recruits. I feel it is more disappointment, and frustration than panicking. These recruits, no doubt in my mind would have helped the GRIZ be better sooner than most recruits do. With these lost recruits, the GRIZ go from having a program monumental class, to a status quo recruiting class. Either way, as with any class, we won't know the quality of this class for another 4 to 5 years.

For me, it is encouraging we have passionate fans taking the time to express themselves on egriz. Am I worried, frustrated, and disappointed in the recent lost recruits? Yes. Am I panicking over the lost recruits? Far from it, more like a little concerned in the lost of quality depth at key positions. I feel many of us fall into that mindset.

Well said! I tried saying the same thing in a different post.

Well, there is that whole post graduation thingy with the service schools that some kids aren't into.
Yep, also its a very strict atmosphere there. That said you graduate with a job with great pay.

("Strict atmosphere") Yep, your transfer player from the Air Force cited on the bozeman tv news that he wasn't all that thrilled with the demands of it, on top of football as well. That he's happier in bozeman.

Not :poke: you or the kid, just pointing out that not all college prospects will enjoy the service academies, for sure.

Before we all get to caught up in the star rating system for high school football recruits, let's take notice to the fact that there is zero 5-star rated players in the two-deep of either team in this weekends Super Bowl (World Championship).

Don't think that any of the UM's current NFL class were 3 star plus either? Maybe not even 2 star - although there had to be at least one.

Yesterday, some dufus posted that UM has a better recruiting class than Wisconsin. Just checked....they have 17 3 stars and 3 4 stars. A bit better than UM.

I ran into a die hard Griz fan in the Msla bar (he was buzzed) and he began talking saying it's the amount of 3 and 4 star recruits we lose that make's us great. The more we lose the better we are. After I finished my drink I slinked outside and the cool air made me wonder how nutty us Montana fans are.

Perhaps he meant if 3/4's are verballing we are on the edge.....if none verbal (thus don't lose them) it would be a sign of being more of the typical FCS schools. .....I am trying to see glass half full with the decommits

Crazy as they come. The world is lucky we don't have a fan base as large as Nebraska or Alabama.

24/7 indicates this kid has an offer. Recently de-committed from Colorado...

Best of luck to Keon, hope things go well? Try to avoid the tire fire that is UNLV.
