The decommits of Baker and Neale have absolutely nothing to do with Stitt's "philosophy" or "breed" of linemen he wants. Those two got offers from bigger schools and that's that. It happens to the Griz, it happens to the Cats, it even happens to almighty North Dakota State. Yes, UNLV is a bottom of the barrel program, but what makes any of us (couch coaches) think for one second, that Alex Neale doesn't think he can be the guy, and his class can be the class that eventually turns it around? Without knowing Neale from Adam, I would bet my left arm he didn't say "Oh well, UNLV sucks and I plan on going there to lose". If that was his mentality, I don't think the Griz coaching staff would want him in Missoula anyway.
Bottom line, FBS schools like UNLV and New Mexico are going to take three-star recruits later in the game, after all the "better" players on their boards have been taken elsewhere. Montana and Montana State do the same exact thing, just with lower-ranked players.
