2015 Griz Football Recruiting- 4 Transfers/ 17 Verbals/ 4 WO's

A quick note...

Tonight at halftime of the Griz BBall game coach Stitt said "we need to add about 3 or 4 more verbals, before Feb 4th."

I have zero idea of the number of kids attending the 23rd (beg U 2 come) bash but I keep hearing we will be happy fans. This coming via an assistant coach.

Looks like Woody Brandom is a cat. Rumor going around we might be loosing some beef to them also. Hope were ready to go get some new beef!

Don't need more TE's, my guess is Stitt has a certain skill set for his Online and perhaps the ones we are "losing" don't have them, thus some new recruits that were not on the radar before better fit his plan ??

common sense would tell me that a recruit out of the Colorado area as that is where he has been for 15 years.....we have not recruited that area very well lately and now with coach stitt, that should change some imo....

The cats have six ol commits already , they concentrate on defense they can't win all the track meets.

Cats can't get much speed as needed. U are right they need defense all over the place. Texas?

The basketball beat down by both the men's and women's basketball teams puts another heavy weight on msu for Montana recruiting as all kids know about the football win by UM this past season.

Mike told Marcus if any of UM's current verbals fall through, Montana has a full scholarship for Marcus. I can't imagine he wouldn't take it as Montana State has offered him no money. I'm not sure if Woody Brandom's scholarship was open when Mike made this call or not.
Yeah I am sure a full scholarship would sway him over. So much for the days of all the top Montana kids 'walking' on to the Griz. :) I am sure the Cats probably know that too and are taking this into account with their offers. It is a good recruiting battle this year between the 2 schools.
In other words, the only thing that has made the Cats "competitive" for in-state recruits is money, scholarships.

And it happened during MSU's "official visit" weekend. The timing could not have been worse. This is almost cartoon quality recruiting.

"Let's bring the kids to campus during our single worst athletic outing of the year, losing to the Griz in both Men's and Women's basketball in abject beat downs on the same day, aside from our other worst athletic outing of the year losing to the Griz in a football humiliation of epic proportions in front of 26,000 people."

What happend to the brotherhood with Willy Pflug? It stopped and we lose Woody Brandom to the cats and Chris Schlichting to ewu. Now looks like were going to lose Villanueva to the cats too, having only Alex Neale as our only OL commit.

He's not going to the cats quit stressing!

Recruiting:

The famous MONTANA SHUFFLE is on.
First the BIG BOOGIE on the 23rd.
And the MAIN EVENT coming on the 4th of February!

Most die hard Griz fans can't wait.

It wasn't a total disaster. MSU had a QB recruit visit. Seemed pretty pleased with the experience and did get an offer.

Thus far it seems fans are a bit on edge that Montana hasn't got lot of o-lineman on board yet. I believe we have 13 rostered now with no seniors and I think 6 juniors. How many more would be necessary to round out this class. Looks like we have one who seems committed, one who has verbaled but may be wavering, a few offers. Just curious what might be that number to satisfy the o-line concerns and who would they like to see on Feb 4?

This is true. We picked up a couple bigs last fall who should contribute this year. And if we get Schmaing back, the roster increases to 14. That's one shy of three deep for O-line.

Add Samson Kalickini (sp) to the OL list.

Ferriter is a walkon for the cats, so if he came here, it would be because of money. Does that mean $$$ is the only reason we're competitive for in-state recruits?

Just a dumb statement from you.

This must have been the hard part of the Cat comment that you did not understand:

Not saying I agree or disagree with him. What's to disagree about? Thought it was an interesting observation that he is claiming that money made the difference, ie made the Cat's competitive for in-state recruiting. Kids want scholarships. It's unfortunate that our Prexy decided to punish the kids by voluntarily reducing the scholarships available. Give it some time. Think about it. Cuss at the dog some more. Rest. Have some coffee.
