The cats have six ol commits already , they concentrate on defense they can't win all the track meets.grizfan442 said:Looks like Woody Brandom is a cat. Rumor going around we might be loosing some beef to them also. Hope were ready to go get some new beef!
In other words, the only thing that has made the Cats "competitive" for in-state recruits is money, scholarships.Re: MSU Recruiting 2015

Yeah I am sure a full scholarship would sway him over. So much for the days of all the top Montana kids 'walking' on to the Griz.Colter_Nuanez wrote:Montana's new wide receivers coach Mike Ferriter has contacted his cousin, Montana State commit and Butte Central DE Marcus Ferriter last week. Mike told Marcus if any of UM's current verbals fall through, Montana has a full scholarship for Marcus. I can't imagine he wouldn't take it as Montana State has offered him no money. I'm not sure if Woody Brandom's scholarship was open when Mike made this call or not.I am sure the Cats probably know that too and are taking this into account with their offers. It is a good recruiting battle this year between the 2 schools.
And it happened during MSU's "official visit" weekend. The timing could not have been worse. This is almost cartoon quality recruiting.Umista said:The basketball beat down by both the men's and women's basketball teams puts another heavy weight on msu for Montana recruiting as all kids know about the football win by UM this past season.
He's not going to the cats quit stressing!grizfan1984 said:What happend to the brotherhood with Willy Pflug? It stopped and we lose Woody Brandom to the cats and Chris Schlichting to ewu. Now looks like were going to lose Villanueva to the cats too, having only Alex Neale as our only OL commit.

How many more would be necessary to round out this class. Looks like we have one who seems committed, one who has verbaled but may be wavering, a few offers. Just curious what might be that number to satisfy the o-line concerns and who would they like to see on Feb 4?

This is true. We picked up a couple bigs last fall who should contribute this year. And if we get Schmaing back, the roster increases to 14. That's one shy of three deep for O-line.

This must have been the hard part of the Cat comment that you did not understand:PTGrizzly said:Ferriter is a walkon for the cats, so if he came here, it would be because of money. Does that mean $$$ is the only reason we're competitive for in-state recruits?
Just a dumb statement from you.
Not saying I agree or disagree with him. What's to disagree about? Thought it was an interesting observation that he is claiming that money made the difference, ie made the Cat's competitive for in-state recruiting. Kids want scholarships. It's unfortunate that our Prexy decided to punish the kids by voluntarily reducing the scholarships available. Give it some time. Think about it. Cuss at the dog some more. Rest. Have some coffee.Yeah I am sure a full scholarship would sway him over. So much for the days of all the top Montana kids 'walking' on to the Griz.![]()
