Did the coaches tell them we are moving up to the MWC and we need more talent to compete at that level? They can be the class to take Montana to the next level. How are we hooking this kind of talent?

That thought crossed my mind...

He is the nephew of former Griz linebacker, David Sirmon. David played from 1993-1996. David also had three other brothers play college football, including Peter who played at Oregon and then went on to play for the Titans in the NFL. David is now coaching linebackers at USC. This is a seriously talented family and I believe they all played linebacker.

Yup

Cy’s father John was a record setting d end for the Vandals back in the late eighties and early nineties. As most know his uncle and current USC LB coach Peter Sirmon is one of the best players to ever come out of Washington state. The 8 year NFL vet and former Oregon Duck is one of the most respected coaches in the college game.

Add to this both of his grandparents and all 5 uncles played college ball, while his cousin Jacob (6-2 185) is one of the top 8th grade QB’s in the west. All of this plays into what Cy brings to the table as football runs deep within the family.

Cy is the son of John, who played DL at Idaho in the early 90s. David played LB here in 93-96 and is now teaching at the biz school at U of Washington. Thad played at Oregon State and Peter played at Oregon and for the Titans and is now coaching at USC. That is a pretty accomplished set for brothers right there. Huge football family. David married Ryan Thompson's (DT for Griz 93-96) sister, and their oldest son Jacob is one of the highest ranked recruits in the country in the current freshman class. He is a QB at Bothel, which just sent their QB to Cal (whom the Griz also offered). With any luck Jacob might want to play alongside his cousin Cy for the Griz in the future.

This is an OUTSTANDING recruiting class so far - one that can raise the Griz back to its national championship ways! Great work coaches, and congratulations at all these young men on their accomplishments and their decision to be part of something special here at Montana!

Go Griz!!

I had the same thought as well. Or maybe even said that some of the BSC was moving up as Fullerton made mention a while back. This upcoming class does certainly seem to have a superior talent level from years past. Granted a star is just a star, prove it on the field at the next level.

Anyhow looking forward to see if these kids actually sign and how they work in.

OK... so I usually take the "wait and see" approach to recruiting classes....

But WOW, this looks AWESOME so far!

wow is right payton,,,i have been following this thread you put together for years and can not recall this many early commits, let alone the quality of three stars and just plain great players like tyree and willy, not to mention the other outstanding recruits.....I hope that old adage does not come true "if looks to good to be true"......just hope they stay with their commitment...I also think you have to give the current coaching staff their kudos, regardless of who comes in behind them. exciting!! go griz!

You're pretty much alone in taking anything Fullerton says seriously.

And those are his JUNIOR highlights!

Tyree Range's highlights through the first 3 games:

41 carries for 377 = 9.2 yards per carry as well as 8 touchdowns

So, silly question. Is there a method of alerting the staff to a potential recruit that they may want to look at? I know they know infinitely more about recruiting than I will ever learn in my lifetime, but sometimes someone slips through the cracks.

This is a little bit of a slippery slope... NCAA rules and such. The best method is to have the player or players coach send a video to the head recruiter then contact them and ask if they recieved the video. If the players HS coach will do this, it is better, but I do also know that many fans have "dropped a hint" about Montana Players.

I guess the real answer is that players and family members can contact schools whenever they want... but don't over do it and get on the coaches nerves.

If you are a booster (IE given ANY money to the program) PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT COACHES. This is the easiest way to get a school in trouble.

Well, since I went to Montana for school that's out. There is a kid from Tigard in Oregon (Same school as Manu Rassmusen) that might be a pretty good kid. His name is Sam Inos. He has a hudl profile:

He has been putting some good numbers up the last two years.

Thanks for the heads up and since he Inos is on their radar, the there is no need to bother Coach Green. I did email the Compliance office and they sent me this response of anyone is interested:

"Thank you for asking about prospect recruitment before acting. You are considered a booster because you are a UM alum and you may contact a UM coach to pass along a name of a potential recruit. That is the extent to which boosters can be involved. Coach Green and the rest of the football staff’s contact information can be found on gogriz.com.

Thanks,

The Missoulian article this morning also stated that Josh Sandry from Bigfork has verbaled.

He plays QB but will be a Safety at UM.

Quick story about Josh. As a 6th graded when asked what he wanted for Christmas he stated "I only want one thing, a tackling Dummy."

This kid can hit like a train... He is a very good football Player!

LOVE the tackling dummy story!

Sandry arrives with bad intentions, he wants to take your head off, and I love it!
