2013 Strength of Schedule

Jerry Punch said:
Dude you finished 5-6 this season. And suddenly you are better than someone who finished 11-2?

Reading really IS fundamental, isn't it?

Even a broke clock is right twice a day, punch. You guys have 25 years of futility and suddenly YOU'RE the expert on winning because you had a better record than the Griz for the second time in your lifetime?

Dude stop living in the past! I know it helps to ease the pain, but come on man, I even think too many Cat fans live in the past. You don't want to be associated with us now, do you?

But at least you guys had a good offseason last year. It can't get any worse, right? It's all about where you kids set the bar. Come on now, say it with me: 6 wins, no criminal activity. 6 wins, criminal activity. 6 wins, criminal activity. Do it is often and maybe it will become true!

Oh yeah the Cats schedule is so weak! I suppose people are planning on NDSU sucking balls this year, am I right?

Maybe I read it wrong but I thought it was based on only BSC games.
I believe it must be only BSC games because EWU has one of the tougher complete schedules for team in the BSC
Aug. 31, at Oregon State
Sept. 7, Western Oregon
Sept. 14, at Toledo
Sept. 21, Open
Sept. 28, at Sam Houston State
Oct. 5, Weber State
Oct. 12, at North Dakota
Oct. 19, Southern Utah
Oct. 26, at Montana
Nov. 2, at Idaho State
Nov. 9, Montana State
Nov. 16, at Cal Poly
Nov. 23 Portland State

That's a pretty nice looking OOC schedule.

I guess nice, as in competitive makes sense, but they're likely to be 1-3 OOC, and still have to play Cal Poly, MSU and us in Wa Griz.

Brutal is more how I'd describe it.

Since everything for you is in the past, how well did the Cats do in their last game? Worse than the Griz did in theirs.....

They lost to the FCS runner up in blowout fashion. This was also in the playoffs. Have you heard of them before? This was in the round of 8 - meaning that Cats were one of 8 remaining teams in the playoffs.

I'm glad that you think it is an honor to only lose by 9 points in a regular season conference game rather than getting blown out in the playoffs. I think it shows just how low the Grizzly menality has fallen in the last three years.

You keep enjoying that regular season, Kem, and bragging about how some of those losses weren't as bad as the Cats' loss in the playoffs. You're starting to sound like PlayerRep.

Strength of schedule is only for the runners up, at the end of the season, who are looking for a rationale to be included in the playoffs, or, as in last years case with Tri-Champions, relative seeding.

This. The SEC deals with this every year. So will the Big 10, ACC and Crap 12. You can't play everyone in conference and have comparable common opponents.

The only thing I wish that would happen in our league is for there to be two different divisions, with the winner of each getting auto-bids to the playoffs. A true conference championship is probably out of the question, but boy it would be fun. That to me would at least be more fair and comparable to what the FBS teams have but with a more legitimate champion at the end because of the playoff.

Sad to see sCat fans feeling they are going to have another good season. Sorry punch... its over buddy... Griz are back from there hibernation... Go Griz

Why are you going to be better and why are we going to be worse?

I'll start on why we should win a minimum of 9 games.

1) DeNarius McGhee
2) Rub Ass
3) Cody Kirk backed up by any number of players who would start at any other Big Sky School
4) Better Secondary
5) Better offensive line.

Ok . . . tell me why I'm wrong. I happen to think the Griz will be better, but not better than the Cats. So, go ahead big guy . . . I'm waiting!

Here's a few reasons:

Joel Fuller
Jody Owens
Caleb Schreibeis
Zach Minter
Brian Bignell
Orenzo Davis

Good luck with that.

1. Kirk pisses down is leg when you play top rated D's
2. Your Oline is shit. if McGhee wasn't as mobile as he is he would have been the most sacked QB in the BSC

Would have been, should have been, might have been, etc. Guys, do you see what is happening to your team mentality? You're thinking about things and wishing they would have happened.

"If DeNarius wasn't mobile." Well, he is mobile. And yes, he makes what was definitely a weaker Oline look much better. And yes, when they played better Defenses, they got dominated. But they still beat the Griz, so that D must not have been that elite.

I know you guys love the statistics argument when the Griz play the Cats, but dude, if you don't win, who cares? I know that helps the dick pumping sessions during the offseason to feel better about going 5-6, but the fact remains, despite what you "could have done" the Griz lost 6 games. 6. Not 5.5 Not 5. Not 4. 6 games.

So, with basically nobody leaving from an o line that had to grow up in a hurry and on the fly with DeNarius in his 4th year playing, why will the offense be worse?

You've got a legitimate point to make about the D, AZ Griz, but that's half the battle. A good D doesn't win you 11 games. If you need an example, look at your season. Great Defense that often got worn out because their inept offense couldn't keep drives going and wear anyone down. Or is there another secret excuse why you guys lost that I'm not aware of yet?
