I think the Grizz will reach the playoffs esp if JJ is playing QB this coming year. The kid is definitely talented. He totally dismantled UNI in their playoff game in '11. If he can get back to that level of play...look out.

Bison/Grizz match-up in the playoffs would be a good game to see. But with the Bison returning 20/22 starters, I fully expect them to make another NC run in '13.

Yup...

no doubt,,,,bison are the class of fcs.....

PlayMakers back... Does this change your predictions for 2013?

National Championship is leading.... nice!!

Can anyone tell me the significance of the number 3172?

UM's total yards in 2012 without JJ

Naaa - that was the passing yards surrendered by the secondary last year... most in the big sky... JJ wont be able to help that....
you don't think an accurate qb that has the ability to sustain drives will help out a defensive unit? Remember if we have the ball the other team doesn't. Not saying he solves secondary issues but he will sustain drives which in turn should help a little.....and our secondary will be improved :thumb:

Call me a naysayer, but there is no possibility of the GRIZ defeating NDSU. They are loaded, have momentum, boast a growing fan base and facilities and are well coached. Sorry GRIZZERS. Let's just start with spring ball before we look to season predictions.
sounds bleak! Might as well just give the trophy to NDSU since they are a good team with a growing fan base and some nice facilities. Look its six months before the season, we are all itching for it to start...what else are we going to talk about? why should we wait till spring ball for predictions?

** had to add something to this after I reread it.....I know NDSU is a very impressive team and im not discrediting what they have done, I just think saying there is no possibility of beating them is being a little too dramatic.

If JJ can rebounds from his imposed hiatus quickly, he's presence is worth another couple of wins for this Griz team. The secondary and Delaney will have to really "step up" for the Griz to be considered National Title contenders IMO.

Yep... and Hammer, I hope JJ used up his record amount of 3-and-outs we suffered thru during his first season as the starter. If I remember right, part of his success against Weber was from "high school recruits" adding some plays to Super Pflu's boom-or-bust offense - like a simple circle route to a running back and a double drag-pattern. Granitegriz still ain't buying a weak-armed QB fact and is sticking with JJ threw all his 30-yard passes into the wind. Hopefully he added some length to his throwing shoulder so opposing safeties aren't standing next to the LB's this season (Grady's observation... well spoken and accurate). I think we still have plenty of question marks in the OL, TE, CB's and S AND the lack of a "think-on-their-feet" coaching staff to warrant some skeptism. The Billings QB might have to rescue us if Delaney is smart enough to pull the trigger, and hopefully JJ will still have the ability to scramble well despite most of the EGriz latched onto his Johnson with their rose-colored lips.

Jees...pessimistic much?

2011 3rd down pct.: 43%
2012 3rd down pct.: 40.7%

You seem to be forgetting the fact JJ was limping the first half of the year...
JJ's ankle was seemingly 100% twards to end of the year and his last 5 consecutive games the offense averaged a 46% 3rd down pct.

The ridicules 2009 Griz team had a 46% 3rd down pct.

I just seem to remember stats like; 45-10, 36-10, 41-14 and 48-10 when he was at the helm...
JJ had hiccups as most freshman do but there is no denying he developed into an amazing QB right before our eyes.

Last year Montana wasn't anywhere remotely near "amazing" @ qb and still played extremely competitively.
This team gets "amazing" back at the QB position watch out.

5-6 overall, and 3-5 in the Big Sky, is not competitive. It's not even "exetremely competitive"

I'm more skeptical about our chances than others on here. We don't have a secondary, as BW's defensive analysis showed how wide open it is, and JJ is going to be pretty rusty after going through hell. Ty hasn't shown enough championship flare on the D side, and co-offensive coord's are going to need a season to work out the kinks. This will be another rebuilding year.

Nope. The secondary will do just fine with a season of experience under their belts. This team will be a force to be reckoned with this fall. A rebuilding year? You do realize that we lose all the starting LB's after this season? What does that mean for next year? Another rebuilding year?

I agree Hammer. The secondary will be vastly improved in 13. Another year in the program will do them wonders, not to mention better health for the returnees... and throw in some VERY talented newcomers (VAN ACKERAN IS A STUD) and you end up with a better product on the field, no doubt about it.

I say the Griz are looking pretty loaded as a team... LOOKOUT :!:  :egriz:

You aparently have not been following post game press conferences at UND. Ws are somewhat overrated.
