2012 Montana Grizzlies Football Buy/Sell

Well, with basketball season done, for me it has officially become "how long until Griz football season starts?" time. To help pass that time, I'm going to borrow a pretty good discussion starter that I've seen done a couple of different times at different sites. I think we did it here last year as well. Basically, this will be a Buy or Sell discussion. The way it works is:

1. "Poster A" presents a Buy/Sell Question

2. "Poster B" responds to the question and "Buys" or "Sells" the question, with a comment as to why or why not

3. "Poster B" finishes their posting with their own Buy/Sell question

--Also, put a number before the Buy/Sell question so we can keep track of where we're at/what we're talking about. I'll start it off below...

1. Buy/Sell - the 3 headed monster of Canada, Moore, Nguyen will collectively total at least 1800 rushing yards.

Sell: it's imperative that our run game picks up the pace that we set last season, but I don't see the O-Line coming together as a group until later because of the new coordinator.

Hey man, thanks for the response! The only thing that you didn't do was post your own Buy/Sell question to keep the discussion moving along. :thumb: So, what is your Buy/Sell question?

I'll buy that. Last year the three of them accounted for 1845 yds. with Moore missing 3 games.

2. (or 3?) Buy/Sell - John Ka'nongata (sp?) leads the team in tackles.

I'm going to say Sell - even though he was the 2nd (3rd?) leading tackler last year. If Tripp is healthy all year, I think Tripp is the leading tackler...

3. Buy/Sell Providing JJ starts all the games, + playoffs, he throws for 3000 yards?

Buy: Providing all troubles are behind him and he plays all games. New coordinator likes to pass the ball and the backfield will be getting short passes like an extended hand off to get into open space.

Buy/Sell: New DB's handle the challenge that they are the weak link on the defense and secondary puts up better stats then last year?

I think you're both wrong; Hermy will lead. He had the same number of solo tackles (38) as JP and played about 1/2 as much. Dude is a tackling machine.

Good point garizzalies. I'll still take JP. Leading returning tackler and I love his shoestring grab on screen passes. I'm ok with being wrong on this one. As MMF said, Tripp is certainly in the discussion as well.

Now that I know how to do this... great idea for a thread!

Buy: Ka'nongata is one of those players that has that, "Holy crap! This kid is good," aura about him. He's just everywhere every single play.

5. Buy/Sell: We win the BSC championship outright with one loss.

all 3 are great tacklers b/c they have speed, instinct, and are a little nutty. Its a combo i don't remember seeing on a UM D. they'll be racing each other to the tackle, as it should be.

but if today's scrum is any indication...

"Sophomore letterman safety Matt Hermanson and redshirt freshman defensive end Derek Crittenden from Whitefish had a scrimmage-leading 5 tackles each. Junior linebacker John Kanongata'achipped in 3 tackles and a pass deflection." http://www.gogriz.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/032412aaa.html

Kills me to say this, but I am going to sell. Very young at certain positions and we have tough games early in the schedule. I think we could end up with more than one loss.

#6. The Griz will punish the Scats at home and win by 17 plus?

Sell: A tough schedule and unsure defense makes me think they will lose more than one game this years.
On a related note:

#7 Buy or Sell: The Grizzlies win 7 or more games and make the playoffs, and just for fun pick the games.

vs South Dakota
at Appalachian State
vs Liberty
vs Northern Arizona
at Eastern Washington
at Northern Colorado
vs Southern Utah
at North Dakota
vs Idaho State
at Weber State
vs Montana State

#7 Buy

Honest to God picking us for an 11-0 regular season campaign. Cats at home, App State's rebuilding and will be fielding their weakest team since 2004, Liberty and USD both at home, etc. We'll be the tentative favorite in every game. Of course there's more than a few games we can drop, if Padron clicks right away, or UND or Weber field good teams this year, or Sorenson has a great game against us.

#8 Buy or Sell: Hermanson wins Big Sky DPotW twice or more

Buying for sure. Between him and our linebackers, the POW trophy should be in Missoula for most of the season. :o

9. Buy/Sell: Ty Gregorak comes off the sideline and tackles somebody this year.

Sell- LOL I think Ty has enough confidence to let his field crew do the dirty work. Is Ty a coordinator that stays on the sideline instead of the booth?

10. Buy/Sell 5,000 Griz fans at the game in Boone?

Sell- Boone is kinda hard to get to. I say around 3000, maybe a few more at most.

I'm with cody on the 3000 or so #.

I'm not sure if Ty will be on the sideline or in the booth. If he comes out of the booth to make a tackle though I'll be very impressed!
